Katharine shared the news on Instagram.
She didn't share any specifics of what's going on, but whatever it is did seem to require her to get back home as soon as possible.
"It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I have to miss our final two shows of our Asia run," she wrote. "David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family. Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return someday and perform for you all."
Fans flooded the comments with their support.
Though there's no doubt that fans in Asia will be disappointed to miss out on seeing Katharine perform, the comments on her post are filled with words of support.
"Sending my love and prayers for your family," singer Nicole Scherzinger wrote.
One of her fans chimed in, "So sorry to hear! Take care of your family first."
David is still scheduled to perform on those dates.
Fans can still expect to see David perform in Jakarta on August 11 and August 12, along with the other special guests who are joining him, including Michael Bolton and Peabo Bryson.
So far, he hasn't spoken out about the situation himself.
Katharine and David share a son.
Their little boy, Rennie, is now 2 years old, and it's unclear whether he was in Asia with his parents or stayed behind. David is also a father to six five adult daughters: Sara, Jordan, Erin, Allison, and Amy.

Our thoughts are with David and Katharine at this time.
Though we don't have many details about what's going on in their family at this point, it sounds like it's a pretty dire situation, based on what Katharine has shared. Here's hoping she's able to get home quickly and that David will be able to join her soon.
