Some fans have questions for Travis Kelce after his ex discussed her past relationships on her podcast. During a recent episode of The Pre-Game, Kayla Nicole implied that all of her previous boyfriends cheated on her at some point. She didn’t name names, but given that she previously dated Travis Kelce, the comments sparked infidelity rumors.
Travis and Kayla were together for several years.
Prior to dating his current girlfriend Taylor Swift, Travis was in a relationship with Kayla for about five years. The former couple started dating in 2017, but broke up in 2020. At the time, some people suspected that they broke up because of infidelity. Per TMZ, Travis denied those rumors at the time, writing, “This is fake news … a lie … and not why Kayla and I broke up … take all your hatred somewhere else please.”
A few months later, they got back together. Two years later, they called it quits.
On a recent episode of her podcast, Kayla made a comment about cheating.
Kayla spoke about how her dating experiences have differed from her expectations. “I was raised to believe that a man and woman, if they are in a relationship, if they are married, you are only intended to be with each other, and you make this agreement, this promise to one another to hold each other accountable,” she said. “Have I experienced that in dating and relationships in my life? No.”
Ouch. She then went on to suggest that she’s never experienced a romantic relationship “without any element of cheating.”
“When you are cheated on, the heartbreak and devastation that come with that. The insecurities that come with that. It can be overwhelming,” she said. “In my experience, I don’t have successful, monogamous relationships without any element of cheating.”
Naturally, people thought of Travis after hearing the comments.
Presumably, Kayla has dated people other than Travis Kelce. However, the fact that she suggested that she’s never been in a relationship devoid of cheating raised a few eyebrows. Reacting to the comments on Reddit, one person called Travis “a walking red flag.”
Some fans also seemed worried about Taylor. “If he cheated on Kayla, it’s likely he’s cheated/cheating/will cheat on Taylor too,” a second person commented.
But, of course, the comments are not necessarily about Travis.
Some critics accused Kayla of making the comments “for clicks and relevance.” But others defended her, with one pointing out that she didn’t mention Travis specifically and “she is allowed to talk about her past relationships.”
Another person added, “I mean, she never said Travis? Just that she had an ex who wouldn’t go to therapy and that cheating in a relationship doesn’t work out for her. She never even implied him, has she only dated Travis?”
Another ex suggested that Travis cheated on her before.
In 2023, Maya Benberry, who dated Travis for a few months in 2016, implied that the NFL player had cheated on her. “Taylor seems like such a fun girl with a beautiful spirit, so I wish her the best of luck, but I wouldn’t be a girls’ girl if I didn’t advise her to be smart!” she told the Daily Mail at the time.
“Only time will tell,” she added. “But like the saying always goes: Once a cheater, always a cheater.”
