In so many movies, part of being an actor or actress means convincing the audience that you’re truly in love and have chemistry with your on-screen scene partner. And even if Keith Urban understood this about his marriage to Nicole Kidman, apparently, he didn’t really like it all that much.
In fact, one new report is claiming that Nicole’s steamier roles were a dealbreaker for Keith, which means that now that the couple is no longer together, she’s really going for it.
Keith reportedly never felt “comfortable” with some of Nicole’s projects.
Between movies like Babygirl and shows like Big Little Lies, Nicole has taken on plenty of more sexual roles, but that doesn’t mean that her former husband was ever all that happy about it.
“Keith made it clear he wasn’t comfortable with the sexual side of her projects, even if he never said outright she should stop working,” a source told Radar Online. “He worried about how it looked, and he hated the idea of other men touching her, even if it was acting. Nicole kept trying to reassure him, but it got exhausting.”
Now, Nicole and her friends are “relieved” that she’s free of her marriage.
After seeing the “toll” that her marriage was taking on her toward the end, Nicole’s friends are reportedly “quietly rejoicing” that she’s been able to take hold of her freedom again with that chapter of her life behind her.
“They want to see her fully step into her power,” the source said. “The fact that she’s still playing complex, sensual women in their 50s is something to be celebrated and she needs a partner who recognizes that and is man enough to handle it … This approach is working for her and she’s not going to let anybody rain on her parade or stop her from using her voice and her body in unexpected ways.”
Her next goal is to be even more “bold” with the roles she chooses.
Without Keith’s influence, Nicole is able to choose the projects that she connects with without worry about what he might think.
“If anything, the end of her marriage to Keith means there are even fewer limits on what she is willing to do for the sake of a juicy role, and she still wants nothing more than to keep topping herself,” said the insider, adding, “Knowing Nicole, the projects she picks going forward are going to push the boundaries even more, and without Keith holding her back, she can be as bold as she wants to be.”
Knowing Nicole, there’s no doubt she’ll be successful.
