The rumors about Keith Urban‘s dating life after his divorce from Nicole Kidman have been never ending, but this is the first one to really throw us for a loop. According to sources close to the country star, Keith is reportedly interested in Jennifer Lopez, and he’s considering shooting his shot now that they’re both single.
And if he puts any stock in what his friends think, this relationship just might happen, because everyone close to Keith is reportedly already rooting for this potential couple to get together.
Keith and J.Lo go way back.
More than 10 years ago, they were judges on American Idol season 14 together, though at that point, neither of them were single, despite the chemistry they had at the time. But having been through divorces herself, J.Lo reached out to be a support to Keith when she heard about his divorce from Nicole last year, according to what an insider told HeatWorld.
“They got along so well when they worked together and really developed a great friendship, so – of course – when the news broke out about Keith’s divorce, Jen reached out to offer her support,” the source said. “They’ve been in touch ever since.”
They have a lot in common besides just working in the music industry.
After all, they’ve both been divorced after being in very high profile marriages, they’re both parents to older children — this relationship could end up making a lot of sense. There’s just one issue standing in the way of romance: They’re still stuck in the “friend zone” even though Keith has reportedly admitted that he thinks Jennifer is “drop dead gorgeous.”
“The problem is he doesn’t seem to have the guts to make the first move. Whenever his friends tell him he should ask her out, he comes up with excuses,” the source said.
They added, “Right now, Keith just doesn’t see himself the way everyone else does. He’s still rebuilding his confidence after everything that’s happened with Nicole, and he needs a little push.”
A source claims Keith would be good for Jennifer, too.
The source told HeatWorld that J.Lo needs a man who can “keep up with her level of fame and ambition,” and since Keith has been there, done that, he’s prepared for what a relationship with her might mean.
“He’s a megastar in his own right and has earned enormous respect throughout the music industry, so it’s not as though he’d ever be intimidated by Jennifer’s success or expect her to tone herself down,” the source said.
The insider went on to say that Keith is “much more laid back” than the partners J.Lo has gone for in the past, which could make him perfect for her.
“She loves being in a relationship, and the feeling is that the first guy willing to make a genuine effort stands a very good chance — provided he ticks all the right boxes,” the source added. “Now, it’s just a matter of convincing Keith that he’s got what it takes.”
