What to Know
At a time when it seems like Hollywood style is really favoring the skinny again, Kelly Ripa‘s changing appearance is concerning fans. After Kelly and husband Mark Ripa shared a video on Instagram that was taken backstage at the Oscars over the weekend, fans are worried about her health — especially since, in the past, she’s made some pretty alarming comments about her daily diet.
Kelly and Mark were all dolled up for the occasion.
Mark is all dressed up in a tuxedo and matching bowtie, while Kelly is wearing a sparkling gold strapless gown, as the couple was seated backstage at the 2026 Oscars in the video shared to the official Live With Kelly and Mark Instagram account.
“This is the part of the show where all of the winners have to return to their seats because all the other nominees are up for awards, so they have to go back to their seats and can’t come and talk to us,” Kelly explained, letting her followers know that’s why she and Mark had time to go live on Instagram.
Fans are alarmed after seeing her like this.
Instead of focusing on Kelly and Mark’s backstage update, fans both in the comments of the Instagram post as well as on Reddit could only think about their concern for the long running talk show host’s health.
“This isn’t new. She has always been petite and she’s been thin like this for many many years. Very into fitness and seems to always be on some sort of diet. I love her but I often wonder if she suffers from some kind of [eating disorder],” one commenter wrote.
Another fan pointed out that Kelly has shared her concerning diets before, writing, “She’s been on very restrictive diets for decades. Every couple of years she’ll give a ‘what I eat in a day’ interview and it’s always relatively unhinged.”
Kelly has shared what she eats in a day before, and it’s not exactly three square meals.
Back in February 2024, Kelly’s nutritionist Dr. Daryl Gioffre told E! News that she starts her day by drinking a glass of water mixed with dehydrated greens, followed by a snack consisting of a green apple with almond butter as a snack after filming her morning show.
Lunch isn’t much more substantial; typically, it’s a salad, and so is dinner, with a few extras thrown in.
“She’ll add in some steamed vegetables or some sauteed vegetables or some grilled greens,” he details. “And she likes to have the vegetables in season because they’re just better for you. And then she’ll have a protein and that could be grilled tofu or tahini or some fish protein.”
For most people, that diet would sound pretty restrictive — especially thinking about sticking to it in the long term. If it works for Kelly, that’s what matters… but it makes sense that some fans are concerned about her at this point.
