What to Know
Kelly Ripa has never been one to hold back when it comes to how she really feels about husband Mark Consuelos — for better or for worse. It’s part of what makes Live With Kelly & Mark so entertaining to watch.
But when the topic turned to Mark’s annoying holiday habits on Friday morning’s episode of the talk show, she really let him have it, and even managed to drop an F-bomb in the process. But in this case, it might have been justified.
Kelly compared Mark to the Grinch.
Anyone who celebrates Christmas (especially with kids) knows the mess of wrapping paper that can quickly fill up the room on Christmas morning, and apparently, that kind of mess is just not something that Mark can abide.
“The trash bag comes out,” Kelly said on the show, via Entertainment Weekly. “He’s like the Grinch who’s stealing Christmas as Christmas is unfolding. He doesn’t do it the night before, he does it while we’re having Christmas.”
Mark admitted that this is true — he even hides a bag so he’s all prepared to start collecting the wrapping paper as quickly as possible.
It’s Mark’s Christmas Eve behavior that really gets her, though.
Like many moms, it’s very important to Kelly for her family to wear matching pajamas on Christmas Eve. She even gets them monogrammed. And while Mark will participate in the tradition, it sounds like he does so a bit begrudgingly.
“He wears them once a year for me. Once a year, I’m like, look, I don’t ask for much, you’ve done nothing for this holiday, you’ve contributed nothing, you’ve purchased nothing, you’ve baked nothing, you’ve set nothing up,” she said. “Put on the [bleeped] PJs!”
The audience thought it was funny, even if Kelly did have to be censored.
There’s a very good chance that at least a few people in that live audience could relate to what Kelly was saying (and probably also some who understand Mark’s deep need to keep a handle on that wrapping paper mess, which quickly becomes overwhelming on Christmas morning).
A little venting about your partner’s quirks is healthy now and then — though most of us don’t get the chance to do that on national television. Hopefully, dropping that F-bomb was worth being censored to Kelly. It’s too late to take it back now!
