‘Live’ Cohosts Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos’ Biggest TMI Confessions About Their Marriage

Did Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa know that, when they met on the set of All My Children decades ago, life would lead them here? The couple has been married for nearly 30 years and have welcomed three children — daughter Lola and sons Joaquin and Michael — and now, they're embarking on their next adventure together: cohosting the newly named Live With Kelly & Mark.

Given the chemistry they've always had, it only seemed natural that Mark would replace Ryan Seacrest as Kelly's cohost when he left the long-running ABC show. Fans are familiar with the marriage that these two share, and in some ways, we'd say they're a little too familiar.

In fact, over the years, Kelly and Mark haven't held back when it comes to discussing their relationship publicly, and that goes for the TMI stuff, too. And we haven't mentioned the Instagram posts they share from time to time that we're sure their children would rather not see.

These are the most shocking things that Mark and Kelly have confessed about their marriage. We can't believe they said some of this stuff out loud!

Mark's Uncontrollable Jealousy

As Kelly explained on her podcast, Let's Talk Off Camera, Mark once "picked a horrible fight" with her early in their relationship after a waiter was friendly to her on one of their dates.

"It's very hard being married to somebody who is jealous," Kelly confessed at the time, though it does sound like it's something they've worked through since then.

Kelly Once Blacked Out During Sex

Kelly has talked candidly about her sex life with Mark on more than one occasion, and that includes the time that it actually ended up sending her to the ER. In her book Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories, Kelly wrote that an ovarian cyst burst while they were having sex, which sent her to the hospital.

"Sex can be so traumatic, I think, and yet one of us is completely undaunted. There he is, happily munching on the saltines and ordering a second apple juice. Mark could be at a movie or a spa. Instead, I'm flat on my back wondering when the other two cysts will burst," she wrote of waking up in the hospital afterwards.

Their Daughter Walked In on Them

During a 2019 episode of Live With Kelly & Ryan, Kelly admitted that Lola once busted in on her parents while they were having sex, which led to an awkward breakfast the next morning.

"[Lola] shuts the door and you hear, 'You just ruined my birthday! And my life! And I used to see in color and now everything is gray!'" Kelly shared at the time.

Kelly's Book Photo Shoot

One of the photos Kelly shot for Live Wire involved Mark looking up her skirt — and judging by the Instagram comments, more than a few people thought it was in poor taste.

"Nope, don't care for this at all," one person wrote, while another commented, "What would your kids think?"

They Once Did the Deed at Andy Cohen's House

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Kelly revealed that she and Mark had sex in several public places (including the set of All My Children in their younger years) — and as it turns out, Andy Cohen's vacation house in Fire Island is one of them.

"I figured I wasn't desecrating anything that you own," Kelly said, pointing out that the house was a rental.

Raunchy Jokes About Their Son's Conception

When Mark posted a seemingly innocent photo of their son Joaquin when he turned 18 in 2021, Kelly couldn't help but add an NSFW comment to the post on Instagram.

"You know what? Making him was so much fun …" Kelly commented, prompting Mark to reply with a comment of his own about Joaquin's conception: "#MadeInMontreal."

A Suggestive Caption

In 2019, Kelly posted this sweet throwback photo of her and Mark together that had been taken in 2007. There was nothing wrong with the photo, but the caption — where Kelly wrote "those hands" — was enough to get people riled up. Some commenters thought it was inappropriate, and Lola was among them, writing, "Is the caption necessary?"

Post-Sex Behavior

It seems that Kelly's talk show has been a platform for her to open up about what having sex with Mark is really like — including the unflattering parts. On one episode of the show that aired in 2017, where Mark was joining her as a guest cohost, she confessed that her husband is "mean" to her after sex.

"He's immediately mean to me afterwards, and I don't like that," she said. "I think it's bizarre. He becomes short with me, like irritated."

On one episode of Live With Kelly & Ryan — which Mark, once again, happened to be cohosting — Kelly revealed that "sexy time" solves all of their problems
.

"'Oh, you're upset? I know how to take care of that.' 'Oh, you don't feel good about something? I'll take care of that.' 'Oh, you're feeling like maybe you're overworked? I got you. I know what you need,'" she said at the time.

Getting Cheeky

In July 2021, Kelly showed off a photo from a beach vacation where she was bending over and Mark was standing behind her, clearly admiring her backside, which she captioned, "When the end is in sight."

These two certainly aren't shy about showing how much they're still attracted to each other after three decades of marriage!

Posting Thirst Traps

Speaking of Kelly's Instagram activity … she's also known for posting thirst traps of Mark every chance she gets. If you follow Kelly on Instagram, there's a good chance you've noticed that shirtless pics of her husband pop up quite often — not that we're complaining.

Getting Busy on FaceTime

On her Sirius XM podcast, Kelly admitted that she and Mark had to use technology to their advantage when Mark left to film Riverdale after the pandemic and they were apart.

"We had sexual rituals that were so ludicrous over FaceTime, but I became so alarmed at my appearance over FaceTime that I started rigging the computer to hang from a ladder," she said. "I'm not kidding, I hung the computer over a ladder so that I could look up at Mark so he did not have to see what gravity was actually doing."

Do Not Disturb

During one episode of her talk show, Kelly admitted that she and Mark can only stay in hotels when they travel — rather than staying in a friend or family member's house — for one important reason.

"I always take the hotel option when it comes to like, 'Stay with us.' I'm like, 'No, no, no. We'll get a hotel,'" she said. "Because I know how freaky Mark and I like to get … so when given the stay-at-the-home option, I'm like, 'No, you guys are not cut out for it.' Nobody needs to know what goes on."

A Little Experimentation

While on the Sirius XM radio show Quarantined With Bruce, Kelly admitted that getting together with Mark so long ago means that they've had plenty of time to experiment in the bedroom.

"We learned each other well and with that comes a certain level of comfort, and competence, and experimentation and just fun. We have fun. We enjoy it," she said.

Selfie From Bed

In 2020, Kelly shared a selfie of her and a shirtless Mark while they were lying in bed together, calling it a "#humpday mood." Some of her followers appreciated the eye candy, but for others it was more of a side-eye situation.
