Kelsey Grammer is about to become a dad all over again at 70 years old. On Tuesday, news broke that Kelsey’s wife, Kayte Walsh, is pregnant, expecting the couple’s fourth baby together – but for the seasoned celebrity dad, this baby will make eight. Kelsey and Kayte, 46, already share three children between the ages of 12 and 8, so there’s going to be a pretty big gap between his current youngest kiddo and his baby-to-be.
Kayte stepped out in London with Kelsey this week, sporting a pretty sizable baby bump in photos published by People.
The couple was spotted walking down the street and through a park together, each of them dressed casually, with Kayte wearing a long black dress that showed off her bump.
Unsurprisingly, people have a lot of thoughts about someone becoming a dad all over again at Kelsey’s age, and they didn’t hold back in the comments when People shared the news on the magazine’s official Instagram account. Rather than celebrating the news, many focused on Kelsey being 70 at the very start of his newest baby’s life.
“Irresponsible, a child needs a dad in their life!” one person wrote, while another commenter added, “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”
Others were even focused on Kayte’s age, with one writing, “I am 47 and there’s no way I would want a baby right now. I like sleeping too much.”
Kelsey and Kayte share kids Faith, 12, Gabriel, 10, and James, 8, while Kelsey is also a dad to Spencer, 41, Greer, 33, Mason, 23, and Jude, 20.
A source told the Daily Mail that Kelsey is “thrilled” to welcome another baby.
“He’s been incredibly supportive of Kayte throughout this pregnancy, which, though unexpected, has reignited a spark in their marriage that they both needed,” the source said. “After giving Frasier one last go, he has hung his hat up on that character and is ready for the next phase of his life. He is looking forward to embracing the hands-on parenting he missed in the past.”
