What to Know
Joseph and Kendra Duggar‘s March arrests were pretty shocking to those of us still keeping up with the reality TV family, but apparently, there has been drama happening behind the scenes for a long time. Weeks after Kendra’s parents, Christina and Paul Caldwell, were kicked out of the home that their daughter was supposedly letting them use, a source is saying that Kendra actually cut her parents off before their family feud began making headlines.
Things really went south between Kendra and her parents about a month before her arrest.
Nobody involved has actually come right out and said it, but it seems that, until pretty recently, that Kendra’s parents and her eight younger siblings were all living in a home that was owned by her and Joseph — likely the cabin that the couple lived in when they first got married. As the story goes, Kendra and Joe gave the Caldwells the boot, leaving them unhoused and to create a GoFundMe to help raise funds for their unexpected expenses.
Their relationship has been pretty messy for a while, if what a source told Us Weekly is legit. “Kendra is not communicating with her family. The Caldwells have left the home they were living in and all of their belongings are in storage. They are still working out what their next steps will be. It has been an extremely stressful time especially given the circumstances.”
There’s no word on whether or not the reason they were kicked out has anything to do with Kendra and Joseph’s current legal issues, though, but it’s put them in such a tight spot that they’re considering moving out of state.
“Relocating is always difficult, especially with a large family and the stress they are under,” the source added. “They are considering a move out of state. Paul is looking for work to support the family because he had to leave his job.”
The Caldwells really want to “distance” themselves from the Duggars.
The insider went on to say that the Caldwells’ utilities were reportedly cut off before they moved out, and they felt “unsafe” to remain in the home.
“More than anything they want to feel safe and start over and to enter counseling to heal,” they said, adding that “it hurts them to be cut off by Kendra.”
In a statement they released on Instagram following Joseph’s arrest, they stated that they still love their daughter, though their focus is on the victim.
“We are devastated for the young girl, a child who was courageous in every way to share her truth. We stand by her, both in support and prayer, and forever will,” they wrote. “Our love for this child remains at the forefront of our family’s priorities and minds. We are proud of her for being strong enough to share her story while also retaining her own identity and joy.”
Paul and Christina are in quite a bind, and it sounds like they might blame Kendra for it.
Last month, a friend of the Caldwells’ named Amy Paul shared a gossipy Instagram post about how she rushed in to help Christina and Paul when they needed her most, spilling a few details about the situation in her very lengthy caption.
“Not only were they put in the awful situation of turning their son-in-law into the police because he wasn’t man enough to take accountability himself, but he’s also kicking them out of their house and giving them 30days to get out!” Amy claimed. “The power and the water was turned off with 8 other kids living in the house! While I was there DHS was called on them for abuse…wonder who called?”
Oh, brother. Well, let’s have it, Amy — is this new report true, too?
