Kesha said that she "almost died in January" after undergoing the procedure, which was exacerbated by her weakened immune system. The singer was diagnosed last year with CVID (which stands for common variable immunodeficiency) and lead to the rare complication.
It sounds like things got very serious very quickly.
She was fine for a few weeks but then disaster struck.

It all started at the beginning of the year, when a New Year's Eve concert left Kesha feeling off. She'd undergone the fertility procedure weeks earlier, but she realized something was wrong after the show.
Kesha, 36, described feeling too weak to walk before going to the hospital where she spent a scary nine days recovering.
It took months for her to feel better.
Kesha said her path to recovery was a long one. "I finally feel recovered, but it took a couple months," she told Self before adding that the whole ordeal was "horrifying."
These days she's prioritizing sleep and taking care of both her physical and mental health.
Self-care is very important to Kesha's recovery.
Kesha said she is prioritizing getting enough rest these days, which helps her to feel her best.
"I feel like I'm just playing catch-up on my teens and 20s, still," she continued. "But I try to get as much sleep as possible, and I have to protect that fiercely."
