Kesha Might Have Subtly Mocked Katy Perry on Social Media & Fans Are Here for the Drama

As two reigning pop queens, Kesha and Katy Perry have a lot in common, but now, it appears they definitely aren’t friends. Fans are convinced that one of Kesha’s newest posts on X is aimed at Katy after she returned from her Blue Origin space flight on Monday, and the way it’s all playing out online has fans on the edge of their seats.

It all started with a tweet from Wendy’s.

After Katy returned from a quick 11-minute journey into orbit on the controversial Blue Origin space flight on Monday, Pop Crave reported on X that she was back on Earth. At that point, the official X account for fast food chain Wendy’s replied, “Can we send her back?”

Understandably, this level of sass coming from Wendy’s got a lot of attention, but the drama was only just beginning to unfold at this point.

Then, Kesha shared a rather shady selfie.

Later the same day, Kesha shared a selfie from the car, where she was wearing black sunglasses and grinning as she took a sip from a Wendy’s cup.

The photo wasn’t a reply to Wendy’s – it was just a photo that she posted on X without a caption or any other context. But that didn’t stop people from speculating that this was Kesha’s way of showing she agreed with Wendy’s about Katy.

Their feud may have something to do with Katy’s producer.

Kesha and Katy’s beef goes back farther than just the situation with Wendy’s. After Kesha accused producer Dr. Luke of sexual assault, she was locked in a recording contract and a lawsuit that it didn’t seem like she could ever get out of. They were finally able to settle the suit in June 2023 after nearly a decade of ongoing litigation.

Despite Kesha’s allegations against Dr. Luke, Katy still chose to work with him on her album 143, which was released in September 2024. At the time, Katy defended her choice of producer during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast.

“I understand that [working with him] started a lot of conversations, and he was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with. But the reality is, it comes from me,” Katy said on the podcast at the time. “The truth is, I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people to help facilitate all that. One of the writers, one of the producers. I am speaking from my own experience.”

Fans are living for the drama.

Though some fans on X don’t believe Kesha should have fed into Wendy’s post with her selfie, many others can’t blame her.

“If my ex friend was working with my abuser and kept her mouth shut for years, i’d be petty too SORRY!” one person wrote.

Another added, “I hope you write a song about how lame that space trip was. Thanks.”
