Kevin Costner’s Wife Files for Divorce Amid Rumors He’s Not Returning to ‘Yellowstone’

After nearly two decades of marriage, Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner are calling it quits. TMZ reported that Christine has filed for divorce from her husband. The pair have been married since 2004 and share three children together. This has to be a tough time for everyone involved.

Kevin has confirmed the news through his rep.

According to People magazine, Kevin is asking for privacy for his family during this "difficult time."

"It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action," the rep explained.

The pair have three young children to think about right now.

Kevin and Christine are likely worried about how this will impact their children: 15-year-old Cayden, 14-year-old Hayes, and 12-year-old Grace.

This is the second divorce for Kevin, who also has four adult children from previous relationships, including two daughters and two sons.

Christine likely won't walk away from the divorce any richer.

When Kevin and his first wife split back in 1994, the former Mrs. Costner saw a pretty big payday walking away with a reported $80 million, according to the Daily Mail.

It seems like Kevin learned a thing or two from his last marriage and had a pretty iron-clad prenup drawn up before marrying Christine, which means the mother of three likely won't get a huge slice of the Yellowstone star's estimated $250 million net worth.

The divorce isn't the only drama in the actor's life at the moment.

Rumors have been swirling about the trouble on the set of the hit cowboy series Yellowstone for a while. A production source even spoke to the New York Post about the issues, hinting that disagreements between Kevin and the series creator have put production at a standstill.

That means season five could be the last we get to see of the Dutton family in its current iteration, especially after a source told Entertainment Tonight that Kevin won't be returning. That information came the same day that news of his divorce broke.

Both Kevin and Christine have filed for custody of their children.

Although Kevin's prenup has protected him from losing too much money β€” not that Christine has asked for any yet, because sources say that she did not file for spousal support β€” the pair's children are still in play.

Hopefully they're able to work this out quickly (and quietly) to prevent too much disruption for their kids.
