Khloé Kardashian is no stranger to coming under fire because of the way she has edited her photos in the past. Most celebrities have at least a couple of Photoshop fails on social media, but Khloé always seemed to have the most blunders. But now that she’s past it, the 41-year-old reality star is coming clean about why she edited her photos so heavily during that time in her life and what finally made her want to stop.
While talking about different rumors she’s heard about her family on this week’s episode of her Khloé in Wonder Land podcast, Khloé shared that one she hears often is that she “Photoshops every picture” she posts on social media. Though she did confirm that’s not something she does anymore, she did admit that it was once true.
“There was a time that I was around some people that would make me feel like I needed to,” she said on the podcast. “I also think it was the era too. I felt like a lot of people were Photoshopping or heavily Photoshopping more than they do now. I do feel like there was a time that we all just got consumed in this filter lifestyle and we couldn’t see ourselves without a filter.”
Now, instead of editing her pictures with a heavy hand before they go live, she’d rather just “take 500 photos to get the one that I like.”
Looking back at the heavily edited photos she once posted, Khloé compared herself to a “cartoon character,” admitting that it’s “humiliating” to see the way she’d dramatically alter her pictures.
“I really had to reprogram my mind to be like, okay, we have to lay off the filters,” she said. “This isn’t real. That’s not how I look. And I don’t want to look like that. It was a strange time.”
Today, Khloé still tries to make sure she looks her best in the photos she shares online – something that most of us can probably relate to. But now, she has different ways of accomplishing that goal that have nothing to do with editing apps.
“I like to have good lighting,” she said on the podcast. “I definitely have more controlled photos like good lighting and I might take a bunch to get the ones I like. But I don’t have to Photoshop every photo.”
