Khloé Kardashian is opening up about something she rarely talks about on this week’s episode of her Khloé in Wonder Land podcast: Her stepmom, Ellen Pierson, who was married to Robert Kardashian Sr. for such a short period of time at the end of his life that many people are surprised to find out that they were ever married in the first place.
On the podcast, Khloé accused Ellen of marrying her dad on his deathbed before she “took everything” that belonged to him when he died, refusing to give his daughters the items that once meant so much to their father.
Khloé doesn’t have fond memories of Ellen’s behavior around her dad’s death.
“I don’t have really anything of my dad’s,” Khloé explained on the podcast. “When my dad died, a woman married him weeks on his deathbed and took everything from us, so I don’t have anything of my dad’s. Long story.”
As Daily Mail pointed out, Robert and Ellen got married six weeks before he died in September 2003, following a battle with esophageal cancer. The couple had been dating for about three years before they tied the knot.
Years later her sister Kim was able to make things right in a way.
Robert had given his personal bible to his client, O.J. Simpson, during his trial in 1994, and later, the bible ended up being put up for auction last year. Khloé’s big sister, Kim Kardashian, was able to purchase the bible for $80,000 and gifted it to Khloé so she could have something that had once belonged to their father.
“It’s just so cool because I barely have anything with my dad’s handwriting, and the book has a personalized note from my — just to see my dad’s handwriting is so special to me,” Khloé said. “And then to have that in a bible that’s engraved with my dad’s name… it’s just a really special piece.”
She now keeps the bible safe in a locked box, and has loved pouring over the handwritten annotations that are throughout the book.
“My dad, every single day would read the bible, would wake up early — probably 5 a.m. — and read the bible before work. I remember sitting in the corner of his room doing it,” she said. “It was so inspiring to me that this man would get up every day and do that, go to work all day, be the best dad. It was just a really cool thing.”
Ellen has sued the Kardashians in the past.
According to Page Six, a nasty courtroom battle played out between Kris Jenner and Ellen after Ellen published alleged parts of Robert’s diary that Kris claimed her children held the copyrights to. Later, Ellen sued Kris and the four children she shared with Robert, but ultimately, the suit ended up going nowhere, and Ellen returned the diaries to their family.
