Kardashian fans are questioning Kim Kardashian’s parenting decisions once again. Over the weekend, 11-year-old North West took to TikTok to show off her Coachella outfit. She stood beside two of her friends, who were going to the music festival with her. Though Coachella is all-ages, some critics still found it “weird” and “inappropriate” that North’s mom let her go the music festival at her age.

For Coachella, North wore a gray hoodie and a plaid miniskirt over a pair of long shorts. Per Teen Vogue, she carried a Balenciaga Le Cagole leather bag, which costs between $2,550 to $5,900 if purchased new. Even though there’s not necessarily anything super inappropriate about North’s Coachella fit, some Kardashian fans still found it a bit problematic because Kim seemingly “lets her daughter act and look like an adult.”
“Sorry to sound like a regressive aunty but she’s too young to be dressing and putting makeup on like that,” one critic wrote on Reddit. The Redditor added that “girls have their whole life ahead of them to attend concerts, wear makeup and focus on adulting.”
Some of North’s relatives were at the festival.
North didn’t exactly attend the festival alone, even though her parents weren’t there. Per The Mirror, North and her friends were escorted by bodyguards. Additionally, members of the Kardashian-Jenner family, including Kylie and Kendall Jenner, were also in attendance.
Even though Kylie and Kendall were there, many critics thought North was “too young” to be at Coachella. To one Kardashian fan, letting North go to the music festival was not only “weird” but was also “reckless.”
“I don’t care that she had security with her,” one person wrote on Reddit. “She is a child!! North had no business being at Coachella.”
A second fan commented, “Let your kids be happy and have fun HOWEVER do not do it at the cost of safety. Kim has the time and money to go to Coachella, even Kylie attended, but she’s not North’s mom.”
Although many critics agreed that letting an 11-year-old go seemed ‘wild,’ they also weren’t that surprised.
“I teach kids North’s age, and the thought of them at Coachella is wild to me,” one person wrote on Reddit. “North is just so young.”
Another person added, “When I turned 11, my mom took me to the American Girl store.” But considering who North’s parents are, many people said they weren’t all that surprised to find out North attended Coachella at age 11.
“Inappropriate? Yes,” one person wrote. “Weird considering how she’s raised and who’s doing it? No. And it doesn’t shock me at all.”
Another person agreed that for “a normal 11 year old” attending Coachella would be “super bizarre and irresponsible.” For North, whose parents are Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, “going to Coachella may be the most normal thing in her life,” the commenter pointed out.
A third Kardashian fan joked that Kim seemed to be using Coachella for child care. “Kim using Coachella as daycare is so funny to me tho,” the person wrote.
