Since her divorce from Kanye West was finalized in 2022, Kim Kardashian has remained relatively tight lipped about what went down at the end of their marriage … until now. Kim sat down with host Alex Cooper on this week’s episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, sharing what the “last straw” was for her that made her realize it was time to leave.
The dealbreakers began to pile up.
“There was just a lot of things that I wouldn’t deal with. I didn’t like the feeling of someone talking bad about my kids, grandmother, aunts — all of those feelings,” Kim said. “If someone feels that way, then we shouldn’t be together.”
Kim added that she also didn’t like that Kanye shared “a lot of personal stuff” about her without her permission, especially when it involved their children.
Eventually, Kim realized she no longer felt “safe.”
After an incident when she came home to find out that Kanye gave away five Lamborghinis the couple owned to his friends without speaking with her first, she realized that she was no longer “feeling safe emotionally and financially” with him.
“You never know what you’re going to get when you wake up, and that’s a really unsettling feeling. Lack of stability was a big thing,” she said.
In the end she had to protect her kids — and her own mental health.
When Kim realized that Kanye couldn’t be a mentally healthy parent to the former couple’s four children, Kim knew it was time to leave so that she could be there for them in the way they needed.
“I had to save myself to be a better mom, and I think that when everyone’s older, they’ll be able to see it and understand it all,” she said.
Coparenting with Kanye hasn’t exactly been a picnic.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Kim admitted that coparenting with Kanye is a challenge — especially since, at the time of the interview, she said that she and their kids hadn’t heard from him in “a couple months.”
“I wake up and there’s all these tweets about how I’ve kidnapped the kids and it’s not a kidnapping, it’s a divorce,” she said, adding, “Every time he has asked, I will always let them see their father.”
