Years after she seemingly left baby North West at a hotel, Kim Kardashian has offered a new explanation of what happened that day. This explanation hasn’t exactly provided more clarity or reassurance. Instead, it’s left fans questioning her priorities.
Back in 2014, Kim appeared to leave North at a hotel.
At the time, Kim left her hotel in Paris and looked inside her car. Then, she went back into the hotel and went back out with her daughter, who was only 1 year old at the time. The apparent blunder went viral and critics accused Kim of forgetting her baby inside a hotel.
Later, Kim took to social media to explain herself. She acted shocked that people really believed she would leave a baby alone in a hotel. “Heard on the radio today some story I forgot my daughter at our hotel as I’m leaving for the airport. Are you kidding me?!?!?! LOL” she wrote on Twitter (now X) at the time. “I went to the car to make sure the car seat was in because the day before we had a car seat issue.”
In the same series of tweets, Kim also laughed at the people who seriously thought she would leave a baby “inside the lobby by herself.” She added, “Oh wait she was waiting to check out lol.”
Kim recently responded to a clip of the incident again.
This time, the story sounded a bit different — and though many fans could believe it, they still had questions. On July 11, 2025, Kim shared a clip of the 2014 hotel incident via her Instagram Stories. The original post came from a fan account and was captioned with, “My favorite Kardashian moment is when Kim forgot North in a hotel room.”

When Kim shared it, she added her own caption: “I wanted to show the look off before holding her bc her outfit didn’t match mine! I didn’t forget her!!!!”
Many fans thought this was a reasonable explanation — for Kim, at least.
Though it might not be the most relatable parenting moment ever, fans thought it made a lot of sense for Kim Kardashian.
“In all honesty I actually believe her,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “I still found it funny.” Another fan added, “I definitely believe her because she’s so into s— like that.”
Others had questions and concerns.
Not everyone found Kim’s story humorous. One critic slammed Kim’s parenting, writing, “God forbid Kim get a pic with someone not matching her 🙄. She totally forgot that kid or left her behind on purpose.”
Others pointed out that this explanation didn’t sound any better. “Kim sweetie I love you but……..” one fan wrote. A second fan added, “Like that’s better Kimberly 🤣.”
