Though King Charles was discharged from the hospital last week after he received treatment for an enlarged prostate, heartbreakingly enough, it seems that his medical woes aren't over. On Monday, Buckingham Palace announced that Charles has been diagnosed with cancer that was discovered during his hospital stay, and it sounds like the 75-year-old monarch isn't wasting any time before starting treatment for the disease.

The royal family made a statement sharing the update.
In a post shared across the royals' social media accounts, the statement revealed that Charles' diagnosis had come while he was in the hospital.
"During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer," the statement read.
He has already started receiving treatment.
"His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual," the statement continued.
At this point, it sounds like he's staying positive about what must be a scary moment for him and his family.
"The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible," the statement shared.
He reportedly broke the news to his family himself.
According to People, Charles was able to tell Prince William and Prince Harry what's going on himself and informed the rest of his family, including siblings Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.
Considering that Charles was only discharged from the hospital one week ago, the news is still fresh for the royals.

Harry is believed to be planning to travel to see his dad.
ITV News royal editor Chris Ship shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Harry was on his way to see his father following the news of his diagnosis.
"Prince Harry is flying back to the UK to see his father, the king," read his tweet. "The Duke of Sussex spoke to Charles about his diagnosis. He will be traveling to London in the coming days."
Charles wants to use his diagnosis to help others.
The palace's statement concluded, "His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
Here's hoping Charles' treatment is successful and will go smoothly.
