King Charles Ignores Prince Harry’s Calls & Letters As They Grow Even More ‘Distant’

Despite the silence between Prince Harry and Prince William over the last several years, it seemed like the line of communication between Harry and his dad, King Charles, was still at least a little bit open. But apparently, that’s not the case at all. According to what a royal source told People, Harry and Charles are just as estranged as they’ve ever been, and at this point, it sounds like Charles isn’t even willing to hear his son out.

In fact, a palace source told the magazine, “I don’t think there is any rapprochement. Nothing has changed,” while a second source said that these days, Charles and his son are “distant.”

It’s not for Harry’s lack of trying, though. A source close to the Duke of Sussex told People that the father and son haven’t had a conversation since Harry flew to the UK to see his dad in person after news of his cancer diagnosis broke, which would mean they haven’t spoken in well over a year.

At this point, Harry’s friends are saying that not only does he not know what’s going on with his dad’s health, but also every time he visits the UK, Charles is too busy to see him. Even Harry’s calls and letters to Charles are going unanswered.

It seems as if the growing distance between them is at least partially related to Harry’s ongoing trial about not receiving security for his family with Meghan Markle when visiting the UK. He appeared in court again last week, continuing to fight for the UK government to restore the level of security he had when he was a working royal, and reportedly, Charles is also avoiding Harry so he doesn’t say anything he shouldn’t in relation to the case.

“If his father was to say something even seemingly innocuous, it could end up landing in the middle of the court case,” royal expert Sally Bedel Smith said, per the magazine.

When Harry was in London to appear in court earlier this month, he told People that his “worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case.”

He added, “that’s really sad.”
