What to Know
Given that King Charles‘ romance with Queen Camilla began as an affair while he was married to Princess Diana, it’s safe to say that people have been looking for cracks in the foundation of their relationship for decades.
Now, they may have finally found a big one. One royal source claims that Camilla and Charles aren’t even sleeping in the same bed anymore, and that could be a sign that something bigger is going wrong in their marriage.
King Charles and Queen Camilla reportedly follow a strange royal tradition.
Throughout royal history, couples have had three bedrooms at their main residences: one for each of them and one for them to share. This is how Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s marriage worked for the 73 years they were married before he died in 2021, and there have been reports that Prince William and Kate Middleton sleep in separate beds, too, though that particular rumor has never been confirmed or denied.
And according to a source who spoke to Radar Online, the king and queen have gone all in on that tradition in recent months — and it seems like they really do not want people thinking it’s because there’s something wrong with their relationship.
A source claims they sleep separately for medical reasons.

Supposedly, Camilla and Charles have started sleeping separately instead of sharing a bed due to the neck and back pain that Charles has suffered from for decades.
Radar reported that it all stemmed from injuries he sustained during his polo playing days, which echoes what Prince Harry wrote in his memoir about catching his dad doing exercises meant to alleviate his pain many years ago.
“The king has long been aware that old injuries can catch up with him, so the sleeping setup is really about managing comfort and preserving rest,” the source said. “It is far more practical than symbolic — giving both of them the space Charles and Camilla need to recover properly and sleep without unnecessary strain.”
Supposedly, their sleeping arrangements have no bearing on their relationship — or that’s what one source wants us to think.
“Charles and Camilla’s marriage is defined by closeness, not distance, and the bedroom arrangement is simply part of how they make life work,” another source told Radar. “When someone has carried back pain for years, having the right sleeping space, the right support and the ability to rest without aggravating it can make a huge difference.”
Fair enough — after all, the man is turning 78 later this year and has been going through cancer treatment for a while, and he happens to be king, so his rest is very important. Plenty of couples have started sleeping in different beds for much less (do we think Camilla snores?).
