Given that Kody Brown previously had four wives, some might assume that he’s pretty popular with women. However, from his perspective, this idea couldn’t be further from the truth. The Sunday, May 11 episode of Sister Wives was an emotional one overall, but during a less intense moment, Kody asserted that he “was never a ladies’ man.”
During the episode, Kody Brown and his wife enjoyed a meal together.
While at a local restaurant, Kody told his wife Robyn and their kids about how his parents chose his name. He told them that his dad, William Winn Brown, really looked up to Buffalo Bill, aka William Frederick Cody. Explaining Buffalo Bill to his family, Kody said, “Basically, he was a showman. He was an entertainer.”
Robyn asked him if he noticed any similarities between himself and Buffalo Bill.
The answer seemed to be “yes,” at least in some ways. “I think I’m sort of entertaining,” Kody told his wife. “I try to entertain you!” But there is one way in which he and Buffalo differ: According to Kody, Buffalo Bill was probably a “ladies’ man.”
“I think he was probably very charming, very entertaining, very friendly and maybe a bit of a ladies’ man, I’m assuming,” Kody speculated.
Kody doesn’t seem himself this way.
From Kody’s perspective, having four wives doesn’t necessarily make someone a ladies’ man, though that did make his family laugh.
“I had four wives, that’s all,” Kody explained. “I wasn’t a ladies’ man, and having four wives didn’t make me a ladies’ man.”
While polyamory ultimately didn’t work out for Kody or his former wives, that isn’t the reason why he doesn’t see himself as a ladies’ man. “I was a polygamist because of religion,” he said. “OK? I was never a ladies’ man.”
His wife disagreed.
Robyn seemed to find her husband’s perception of himself pretty interesting, since she believes the opposite.
“He did have four wives,” Robyn said. “I mean, like, most people would consider that a ladies’ man, but whatever.”
Kody is no longer interested in plural marriage.
On a previous episode of Sister Wives, Kody spoke about how his views on polygamy and marriage as a whole have evolved. When his three other wives left him, Kody initially thought about leaving Robyn as well. He described feeling “bitter” because he’s been “slapped by polygamy.”
He added that he has no interest in participating in a plural marriage in the future because he’s “not in that space.”
“I don’t want to pursue another woman because I don’t want that headache, the questions, the struggles, the wonder about trust,” Kody explained.
