If you’ve tuned into Sister Wives before, you’re surely aware that Kody Brown does not always have the most conventional takes. Although the drama associated with having multiple wives is largely in the past because Kody and his wife Robyn are currently monogamous, Kody continues to make headlines over the interesting comments he makes about marriage and relationships. On the October 26 episode of the reality show, Kody spoke to his daughter Aurora’s boyfriend about “protecting” her. Protecting her from what, exactly? “Fooling around,” he said.
According to Kody, kissing a girlfriend means ‘kissing another man’s wife.’
Aurora, who is 23 years old, is Kody and Robyn’s eldest daughter. On the latest episode of Sister Wives, Kody met her boyfriend, Brodie Utley, and talked to him about the importance of chastity. Kody suggested that if Brodie really loved Aurora, he would refrain from “fooling around” and being physically intimate.
“If you love my daughter, then you’ll love her as much as I loved her mother. And I kept my hands off of her ’til we were married,” Kody told cameras. He described kissing a woman you’re not married to as “kissing another man’s wife.”
“I say to these young men, ‘Almost always your job is to protect my daughter, even from yourself. When you’re just dating, you’re kissing another man’s wife until she’s your wife. And if she doesn’t become your wife, you’re kissing another man’s wife,'” he said. “I believe in chastity, like, don’t take something away from them that doesn’t belong to you.”
To be fair, though, Kody had three wives while getting to know Robyn.
And it might be a bit easier to resist the temptation to be physically affectionate if you already have three wives. Kody did admit that he “had an outlet” when he was courting Robyn. However, he still insisted that he and his wives “didn’t have real physical connection until we were married.”
People have doubts about this though.
On this particular episode, Kody seemed to imply that he practiced what he preaches. At the same time, one of Kody’s ex wives, Christine Brown, previously said she wasn’t so sure that Kody and Robyn actually waited until marriage to be physically intimate. “We’ve all seen their engagement photos and I just automatically think, ‘Huh, I wonder how close they got before they were married,'” she said on an earlier episode. Though she admitted she was merely speculating, she added that Kody “was super comfortable in [Robyn’s] house, even walking into her bedroom.”
Kody also previously admitted to being “Mormon naughty” when he was young. According to him, “Mormon naughty” just means kissing and hugging prior to marriage.
