People definitely have questions about Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard’s relationship, and Kristen’s controversial anniversary post in 2025 certainly didn’t help anyone understand what she sees in Dax. It would be fair to assume that, as outsiders, we don’t see everything and things might be better than they seem. But apparently, their friends have noticed some issues too.
You might remember how, back in 2025, Kristen celebrated their wedding anniversary by revealing that her husband previously told her he wouldn’t kill her. At the time, she wrote, “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.'” And while it was (probably?) meant to be funny somehow, people did not read it that way. Both Kristen and Dax were accused of making light of domestic violence, and some concerned fans urged Kristen to leave her husband.
Now, some of their friends reportedly say they fight a lot.
While occasional conflicts and disagreements can be normal, what their friends allegedly described sounds pretty intense. According to Star Magazine, the couple doesn’t just argue in private — they also reportedly engage in “relentless” fighting in front of their friends. One source told the publication, “Especially when you visit them at their home, they have no problem letting it all hang out.”
At least they don’t seem to be hiding anything? But the publication’s source explained that fighting in front of friends comes across as “oversharing,” and some people have found that pretty off-putting. The source added, “Sure, this humanizes them, but they argue all the time.”
Other celebrities have also commented on their marriage.
During a recent appearance on Dax’s podcast, Cher made it pretty clear that she doesn’t see what Kristen sees in Dax. When Dax said he was grateful for having such an amazing wife, Cher essentially said he should be. “You’re lucky,” she told Dax. “She’s definitely the better half.” Ouch.
As the podcast continued, Dax seemed kind of hung up on this comment and questioned Cher about it. At one point, Kristen told Dax that her husband was just “being self-deprecating.” By the end of the conversation, Cher still didn’t seem totally convinced that Dax was a great partner for Kristen. However, she did admit that Dax must have some positive qualities if Kristen chooses to be with him. ” “No, but the truth is, I trust her, so you must have something that I don’t see,” Cher told Dax. Oof.
