Kylie Jenner is getting some interesting responses to her first fashion look at the 2023 Coachella festival, and fans and critics are not holding back their thoughts.
Coachella, the renowned music festival that brings together music, fashion, and celebrity culture, is in full swing. Ears are on the music and eyes are on the fashion, with fans wanting to see the creative looks celebrities and influencers put together for the festival.
Sometimes the fashion is a big hit — and other times they’re not.
Unfortunately for Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters, fans were not feeling one her Coachella looks.
Not only did critics call it “boring,” but they also compared the look to the ultra-conservative Duggar family.
Kylie arrived at the festival in Indio, California, with her sister Kendall Jenner and a few friends.
Also attending with Fai Khadra and hairstylist Jesus Guerrero, the makeup mogul was photographed looking surprisingly casual for the first day of Coachella.
Kylie paired a white oversized jacket with an ankle-length denim blue skirt with some gray sneakers. Adding to the look were white sunglasses and her hair tied back.
Coachella fashion is always a mix of interesting looks.
Fans are used to seeing a mix of different styles and ones that perhaps go outside the box a little too much. We typically see bohemian outfits that are light and flowy. And there are often the darker grunge, leathery type looks as well.
The fashion is always up to some interpretation, and it’s a fun way to try something new all in the name of fun.
But fans say Kylie’s look was less new and more … conservative.
On Reddit’s popular KUWTKsnark community, critics discussed the look Kylie wore for the first night at Coachella, and it’s clear they were just not feeling it.
“That skirt is giving me sophomore year 1997,” one community member shared.
“Maybe I’m old but as a homeschooler from the 90s I’m never going to see tennis shoes and a Jean skirt as cute. Never,” one Redditor wrote.
“I wore this to church in 2003,” joked someone else.
“It's giving matrix + 2000s suburban white church mom,” adding another commenter.
“Stop trying to make denim skirts happen again. Ssttaaahhhppp!!” someone else shared.
Some critics thought Kylie’s look was giving off a Duggar vibe.
“Is she going for the Michelle Duggar look?” one person questioned.
“Dressed like a Duggar,” wrote someone else.
“It’s like she rummaged through Michelle Duggar’s closet and decided to try to make the skirt sexy,” one Redditor shared.
“Kylie is in her Jana Duggar era,” added another commenter.
Really, though, it doesn’t matter what Kylie wears because she always looks great. Plus, we will always root for an outfit that’s comfortable.
