It’s truly such an interesting society that we live in. Random people in your life — some who are just curious and mean well, and others, not so much — feel perfectly okay asking people when and if they’re having kids and how many they want without ever pausing to think about things like fertility, personal choice, one’s career ambitions, and so much more.
Popular podcast host, Kylie Kelce, recently brought up on her podcast the very notion of how ridiculous it is to ask parents who have all boys or all girls if they’re going to “try for the other one.” Kylie knows firsthand how this type of conversation can go as she shares four girls with her husband, former football pro, Jason Kelce.
Kylie Kelce is over people thinking she ‘needs’ a son.
On an episode of Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce that aired on August 20, 2026, Kylie took a moment to address what appears to be a popular fan question that she seems to get asked quite a bit.
On social media, someone named Denise asked Kylie, “Are you going to keep having children until you have a son?” To that, Kylie immediately made a loud buzzer sound that was accompanied by, “Wrong! You’re wrong!”
Kylie rolled her eyes as she answered this question by stating, “I don’t need to have a son.” The mom of four also exclaimed, “Why do we have to keep circling back to quarterly reminders?” If you don’t tune into every single podcast episode of her show, this should serve to let people know that this is likely not the first (or second or third) time that Kylie has received this type of question.
As the mother of four beautiful girls, this type of thing has to get grating.
She also put out a public service announcement of sorts for those who might be confused on this.
After that, Kylie looked directly in the podcast camera and stated, “It’s your quarterly reminder that we do not ask people who have children of one gender if they are going to try for the other one. That’s not how that works.”
Kylie then shared that “the number of comments [she] gets both via social media and also in-person to [her] face is wild. It’s crazy. We gotta stop doing that.”
Sure, most people likely don’t mean any harm when they ask something like this, but on the other side of the coin, it also works as a backhanded comment that could imply that you’re not happy with the kids you already have, which is hurtful and problematic.
Kylie then clarified to all the Denises in the world, “We got to cut that out because I have four kids that I love dearly. My husband and I are so fortunate to have the girls that we have. We’re so fortunate to have the children we have. And I think that we are not less fulfilled because we have four girls. So your suggestion of, like, you are not living a fulfilled life without a son is silly.”
Lastly, she shouted out an apology to all the ‘boy moms’ out there.
If anyone was at all confused about where this mama bear stands when it comes to her four girls, Wyatt, Elliotte, Bennett, and Finn, Kylie had one other very important thing to say.
“I’m so sorry to all the boy moms out there that I’m about to say this, but I’m biased because I only know what I know. So please take this with a grain of salt. Who run the world? You know what I mean?” she said on her podcast.
On an episode of her podcast that came out in January 2025, Kylie spoke to Amanda Hirsch of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast about how unless you do some kind of fertility treatment that involves picking out the biological gender of your child, it’s all pretty much left up to fate, and she’s totally okay with that.
“We love our little ladies. They’re crushin’ it. And at the end of the day, you look at the structure of your household and the little humans that you’ve created, and you never look at them and think, ‘Gosh, I wish you were… someone else,'” Kylie said.
Such a great point. Any proud mom knows that these conversations need to be put to bed yesterday!
