Not only do a lot of these women give up hours upon hours of their time and career and family aspirations to be there for them, but all of that likely comes with a heavy emotional and mental toll. At the end of the day, is it all really worth it?
19-year-old soccer star, Lamine Yamal, recently helped to bring home the winning title for Spain in the World Cup final, but it’s an interaction with his girlfriend after the big win that is causing some controversy. When you’re a part of a couple, there’s bound to be some difficult moments, but what if you were straight up ignoring your partner when it seems they were just trying to celebrate with you?

In a video that’s gained over 10 million views in just a couple of days, soccer player, Lamine Yamal, who had just helped Spain bring home the World Cup victory, can be seen with his girlfriend, Inés García, per Bored Panda.
In the 20-second clip posted to X, Lamine can be seen having a moment next to his girlfriend to scope out what his hair and sunglasses are looking like in the reflection of his phone.
Next, you can spot Inés rubbing his back and smiling as it appears that she’s saying something congratulatory to him while he basically just looks around and completely ignores her. Finally, as she gets a disappointed look on her face, the soccer player walks away in the opposite direction. It’s actually a pretty cold interaction to perceive.
According to the entertainment outlet, there has been online chatter about the pair being romantically linked since April 2026.
A lot of people in the comments are not feeling the way this soccer star ignored his girlfriend.
For a lot of people who viewed this clip, one thing that’s glaringly obvious is that Lamine is completely zoning out from whatever his girlfriend is saying in that moment, and some found that to be quite off-putting.
One person in the X comments shared their thoughts. They wrote, “Most of these guys value their bros more than their partners.” That’s an interesting perspective. In another translated from Portugese comment, another individual thinks the soccer player may be getting a big head due to the fame. “Power went to his head and Yamal thinks it’s cool to ignore his girlfriend. Observe his behavior: he just wants to expose his own image and nothing more,” they shared.
Another feels sorry for Inés because you can practically spot the moment where she notices him check out. “Her smile slowly fading away, poor thing kkkkkk nothing justifies such an attitude, I believe most players are happy with their wives/girlfriends, each with their own… but I felt sorry for her, because you can see the exact moment she realizes she’s talking to herself,” they commented.
Despite the haters, there are a few people standing up for Lamine since he did just win the World Cup. Someone shared, “Normally I’d agree with you but the guy just kinda won a World Cup his brain must be in euphoria and battery saver mode at the same time
rest up.” That is a fair point.
In all fairness, things appear to be a bit messy between the couple.

Online critics have been quick to spot some possibly sketchy things on social media that may contribute to the couple’s lack of a true connection, if that’s what’s really happening.
According to this post on X, some are saying that Inés left her boyfriend of several years just a couple of weeks before she hooked up with Lamine and headed to the World Cup games. In a post shared to his IG story, Gonzalo Torres, the ex-boyfriend of Inés, shared his thoughts on what happened with their relationship.
“I took everything that happened between us as man and never said much. But now you are going around saying that we were not in love ? that I was just a friend ?. why are u doing all these because you feel you are a celebrity with 2M IG followers. life doesn’t end here. You don’t love him, you just want to get pregnant and trapped him with child support. I hope he realizes on time,” he said.
Wow. The drama! If anything, it sounds like the timeline of this relationship is pretty murky and perhaps Inés isn’t quite an innocent as she’d like people to think.
