Eric Trump’s wife, Lara Trump, has been spilling the tea about the Trump family this week. In addition to answering questions via her own YouTube channel, she also appeared on Katie Miller’s podcast, where she shared some details about her in-laws. And though she generally had positive things to say about members of the Trump family, viewers couldn’t help but notice that she kind of called her sister-in-law Ivanka out on the podcast.
At one point, Katie asked Lara a series of questions related to the Trump family, telling her she could only answer each question with the name of someone in the family. So, when asked who gives the most unsolicited advice, Lara laughed. She quickly answered: “Maybe Ivanka…yeah.” Oof.
When she explained her response, she tried to act like it’s not a bad thing.
Still, it seemed like she didn’t even have to think before answering the question. Awkward. But Lara insisted that Ivanka clearly has good intentions. “I feel like she wants to help,” Lara explained. “Like, she always means so well.”
Does that mean this advice is well-received, though? Lara acted like no one in the family was all that offended by it, but also made it sound like the unsolicited advice could get annoying at times. “But, you know, it’s okay,” Lara continued. “We take it all in stride. It’s all good.”
Right after that, Katie asked Lara who gives the best gifts.
And, once again, Lara quickly said that it’s definitely Ivanka. “She remembers everything,” Lara said. “My kids’ birthdays, every single time.” Meanwhile, she described herself and her husband as “the absolute worst” when it comes to gift-giving. “Don’t ask me when the last time I sent my nieces and nephews an actual birthday gift on time, because I always fail,” she admitted. “I’m the worst.”
So, although Lara might not always love Ivanka’s unsolicited advice, she does appear to admire certain qualities she possesses.
These comments about Ivanka come after some family drama involving her.
While Lara does not seem to actually have an issue with Ivanka (at least not based on the comments she made on the podcast), President Donald Trump’s wife, First Lady Melania Trump, is rumored to have a complicated relationship with her. Rumors about the alleged tension between Melania and Ivanka resurfaced when Melania’s documentary came out earlier this year.
Ivanka did not appear in the documentary, and some insiders who spoke to Rob Shuter claimed that this was absolutely intentional. It seemed even less like a coincidence when Ivanka also skipped the film’s premiere. Sources alleged that Melania wanted to be the center of attention and didn’t want Ivanka there. According to these insiders, this hurt Ivanka on some level, but it also didn’t surprise her, suggesting that she’s used to this kind of behavior from her stepmom.
One insider tried to say that Melania and Ivanka “do not get along — not at all.” Still, it’s possible that this alleged conflict has little to do with anything Ivanka has done. More recently, Barron celebrated his birthday, and insiders claimed that his siblings were not invited to the celebration because Melania wanted to have a small party focused on Barron. Or perhaps she hates unsolicited advice?
