No, we’re not talking on a global level here, we’re discussing Vogue‘s former editor, Anna Wintour, and Melania Trump. Apparently, there’s been a bit of a cold war between the two women and Lauren is hoping to mediate some kind of mutual respect where people are at least okay to be in the same room together. Let’s just say that it doesn’t sound like it’s going very well for her!
None other than Lauren Sánchez is hoping to broker some peace between Melania Trump and Anna Wintour.
When people like Lauren Sánchez and Melania Trump are in your social circle, it’s really no wonder there’s all sorts of beef and icy encounters that need to be thawed. These aren’t exactly who you’d refer to as ‘warm’ people.
According to Rob Shuter’s Substack, Lauren has been working behind the scenes to broker peace between the former Vogue editor and Melania Trump. Reportedly, this is an ongoing rift that “spans both fashion and political circles.”
Reportedly, since Jeff Bezos is backing the Met Gala in May this year, and Lauren has spent some time during Paris Fashion Week with Anna Wintour, she’s trying to see this as an opportunity to bring the two women back to a good place.
An insider told Rob Shuter’s Substack that Lauren’s connection to both circles could be key here. “Lauren is connecting very powerful dots. She moves comfortably in both worlds — and she knows exactly who needs to be in the same room,” the insider shared.
Really, the insider revealed that it’s all about staying privy to what’s going on behind those important closed doors. “This is about access. It’s about staying welcome in every room that matters,” the source shared.
It turns out that not everyone is as open to things right now.
Reportedly, Melania is not into the idea of getting close to Anna Wintour.
According to Rob Shuter’s Substack, it’s Melania who is not too keen on the idea of being friendly with Anna again.
An insider told the entertainment gossip blogger that “She’s not interested in Vogue — or that entire orbit. That world just doesn’t carry the same weight for her anymore.” Well, good for her?
An inside source reveals that Melania doesn’t really feel the need to “make peace” because “she’s not chasing approval from fashion insiders” anymore and has simply “walked away from that game completely.”
The source revealed that Lauren can try all she wants, but “Melania has already moved on — and she’s not looking back.”
This is probably a very good idea considering that it appears that Anna Wintour also wants nothing to do with Melania Trump and her family.
There are rumors that Anna Wintour actually banned Melania’s husband from attending the Met Gala.
With the longtime fashion editor making comments to Vogue about Melania’s fashion sense that some interpreted as a subtle dig, it’s really no wonder that there seems to be no love lost between these two women.
Plus, with Snopes.com reporting that back in 2017, Anna actually banned Donald Trump from attending the biggest fashion event of the year, the Met Gala, there doesn’t seem to be any true friendship to come back to.
Do people even care if Donald and Melania attend these super swanky fashion events that are chock-full of A listers? People in the comments in this Reddit thread tend to think not. One person in the comments shared, “Why would he be invited back anyways knowing his reputation now there’s no way he would be invited into events like this.”
There’s even chatter about how peeps in New York City have hated the Trump family and all that they represent for decades. “NYC has hated the Trump family since before Ivanka was even born. They were a laughing stock of perpetual losers,” they wrote. Wow. We can’t help but wonder if this is true because it kind of tracks!
Anyway, if you’re Lauren Sánchez and dying to make your mark as some kind of peace broker, it turns out that you’re likely going to have to move on to somebody else because these two are simply not interested!
