Liam Payne, Former One Direction Star, Dies At 31

Former One Direction singer Liam Payne, 31, has died. According to TMZ, the singer was staying at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Witnesses at the hotel say he fell from his balcony on the third floor. As of now, it’s unclear whether the fall was intentional or accidental.

Police in Argentina confirmed the singer’s death with the following statement: “Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo.”

TMZ reports that Liam had been acting strangely in the hotel lobby earlier in the day. He apparently destroyed his laptop and “had to be carried back to his room.”

Liam has had a challenging few years. In 2021, he revealed that he dealt with alcohol and drug addictions during his time as a member of One Direction. He also explained that he had suffered from depression, even having suicidal thoughts at times.

Earlier this week, Liam’s ex-fiancée Maya Henry accused him of obsessively contacting her. She asked lawyers to issue a cease and desist letter. “Ever since we broke up he messages me, will blow up my phone, not only from his phone, it’s always from different phone numbers too, so I never know where it’s gonna come from,” she said in a TikTok video.

Liam shares a 7-year-old son with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Cole.

Liam was in Buenos Aires to attend former bandmate Niall Horan’s concert. Authorities in Argentina are investigating Liam’s death.
