What to Know
Season 8 of Love Is Blind was filmed in Minneapolis-St. Paul. After ICE agents and subsequent protests became the norm on the streets of Minneapolis in December 2025 and January 2026, some of the cast, in this case Daniel and Taylor Hastings, spoke out about the deferral agent presence and deaths that came about because of ICE. Well, not in so many words. Or many words that were really very clear at all, to be honest.
The couple shared a video on Instagram where they address what’s happening right outside of their home essentially in Minneapolis. They go into how they are helping people who can’t leave their homes, and they admit that it’s hard “not to feel something.” But as soon as they mentioned “taking politics out of it,” they lost plenty of fans and followers who were willing to give them a chance and hear what they had to say about ICE and the tragedies of the deaths of innocent people.
Love Is Blind fans don’t think Taylor and Daniel’s statement is anywhere near enough.
Although Taylor and Daniel have said something, and in some ways that’s better than radio silence, it still isn’t good enough for some of their critics. However, their video statement is still up, so they seem to stand by what they said about ICE’s occupation of Minneapolis.
“The last few weeks, seeing it all play out in real time has been very, very overwhelming,” Taylor says in the video. For me and so many others, I know that a lot of people feel this way.”
Daniel adds, “Taylor and I, I feel like, have always tried to lead with love and compassion and empathy. Loving in all directions, we like to say, and it’s hard to sit here and watch all of this happen in our backyard and not feel something. Taking politics out of it, when you’re looking at what’s happening in Minneapolis right now, whatever the plan was coming into this whole situation clearly isn’t working.”
Taylor also says that “any loss of life is a loss for all,” likely in reference to Renee Good and Alex Pretti, protestors who peacefully stood up to ICE agents and were shot and killed. However, Taylor does not outright say this or mention their names, which might be part of why some Love Is Blind fans aren’t thrilled with her response to what is happening in Minneapolis.
After Taylor and Daniel shared the video and their statement about ICE, some Love Is Blind fans took to Reddit to comment on how pointless they believe the video was. In one Reddit thread, a user called Daniel and Taylor’s video “pointless word salad.” In the same thread, someone else commented on the couple and their desire to take politics out of what is happening.
According to the user, you just can’t. Not now.
“You literally can’t,” they commented. “This is authoritarianism. You cannot take politics out of it.”
On another Reddit thread about the statement, after someone wrote that they didn’t like how Daniel and Taylor did not outright address what is happening but were instead sort of vague, someone else pointed out that even them saying little says a lot.
“The fact that they voted for this, [are] taking politics out of it, and talking about providing money for groceries but nothing else, not even denouncing ICE, speaks for itself,” they wrote.
