Just because you’re no longer a teenage mother, it doesn’t mean the drama ends on Teen Mom. At least, that’s the case for Mackenzie McKee, who learns in an episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter that she’s still married to her ex, Josh McKee. Not only is this a shock to the mother of three (with two more on the way), but it throws a big wrench in her plans to marry fiancĂ© Khesanio Hall.
During the episode, which aired on April 10, 2025, Mackenzie learns from her lawyer that she isn’t officially divorced. She married Josh in 2013, and viewers originally saw their relationship play out on both 16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom 3, and Teen Mom OG. In 2022, Mackenzie and Josh called it quits, according to People. According to what Mackenzie said on the show, she thought that was the end of it.

During the April 10 episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Mackenzie meets with her lawyer to ask about what would happen to her three kids if she were to die unexpectedly. While it’s a morbid topic for any parent, for Mackenzie, she wants to make sure her kids would be taken care of. Because her custody agreement with Josh allows him around 10 weeks out of the year with the kids, Mackenzie’s hope is that her fiancĂ© Khesanio would care for her kids in the event of her passing.
But Mackenzie’s attorney has something more important to tell her. Apparently, after she checked on the filing of Mackenzie’s divorce papers, she learned that Mackenzie and Josh aren’t officially divorced. Mackenzie explains that she “got the paperwork from the court.” She and Josh thought the divorce was a done deal. Mackenzie’s lawyer, however, explains that there is no official filing.
According to The U.S. Sun, as of April 2025, Mackenzie and Josh are still not legally divorced. The outlet reported there are no official divorce filings in either Miami, Oklahoma, where Josh lives, or in Palmetto, Florida, where Mackenzie lives. It’s possible that what she previously thought were official divorce papers weren’t the correct ones. She and Josh may have to go through the process all over again, but with help from their attorneys.

Mackenzie hopes to move on from her marriage to Josh. And moving on includes getting engaged to Khesanio and expanding her family with him. She explained on Instagram in March 2025 that she used IVF to get pregnant because, when she was 21, she had tubal ligation. Because reversal isn’t guaranteed, she’d have only a small chance of conceiving naturally. As a result, she went the IVF route and had two embryos implanted.
Later, when she appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show, Mackenzie revealed that she is pregnant and expecting twins. She also let fans know she and Khesanio recently got engaged. Outside of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Khesanio and Mackenzie’s relationship is still going strong. Unfortunately, they now have a divorce to contend with before they can make wedding plans.
