Influencer Details ‘Traumatic’ Labor Experience: ‘Blood Just Running Down My Legs’

One month after influencer Madeleine White gave birth to her first child, daughter Juliette, she’s opening up about her terrifying birth story. In a new TikTok video, the new mom detailed the “traumatic” experience of welcoming her baby early via emergency c-section after she was diagnosed with preeclampsia, and even though she’s calling it a “dramatic entrance,” that’s a massive understatement!

Madeleine was experiencing symptoms of preeclampsia, which one of her followers pointed out to her.

In one of her final TikTok videos that she shared during her pregnancy, Madeleine was struggling to get her rings off of her suddenly swollen fingers, and that prompted her followers to ask if she had been checked for preeclampsia, which is a pregnancy complication characterized by swelling and high blood pressure, according to the Mayo Clinic.

She went to the hospital to be sure, where they told her that she didn’t have preeclampsia, only for her to be diagnosed with gestational hypertension at her next OB checkup.

At that visit, they tested her for preeclampsia again, but before the test results even came back, she ended up at the hospital all over again.

She woke up bleeding in the middle of the night.

When Madeleine was 33 weeks pregnant, she woke up bleeding and let her husband know it was time to go to the hospital, and things quickly took a turn for the worst.

“I actually swear one of the worst parts about this whole labor experience was standing in the lobby when they’re asking me for ID and insurance information as blood was just running down my legs,” she said. “To me, it was the biggest emergency in the world.”

She was admitted to the hospital and the plan was to hopefully keep the baby in a little bit longer so her lungs could develop more, but Miss Juliette had her own plans.

She ended up having a c-section.

As soon as Madeleine’s preeclampsia test came back positive, she was prepped for a c-section, which she called the “scariest time of my whole life.” The situation became even more serious once the surgeon opened her up and discovered that she was also suffering from a placental abruption.

“Obviously Juliette was admitted to the NICU. I thankfully didn’t have any more complications after I gave birth. I was discharged two and a half days after I gave birth. Juliette came home after three weeks and one day in the NICU,” she said. “Definitely not the labor I would have chosen for my first baby and it definitely makes future pregnancies a little bit more complicated.”

That sounds like a terrifying story, but it’s good to hear that she and Juliette are happy and healthy. Hearing about the night she was born is going to be wild for this baby girl when she gets older!
