Nick Cannon is dad to 12 children, including the teenage twins he shares with ex-wife Mariah Carey. But if you ask his oldest daughter, Monroe? She has one brother, and she took to Instagram on Thursday to make that point as clear as possible. It’s very rare that Monroe and Moroccan mention their half-siblings, so this declaration came as quite a surprise to her over 41,000 followers.
As multiple outlets including Page Six reported, in a since-expired post that Monroe shared on her Instagram Stories, she wrote, “Clearing something up guys! I only have ONE brother who is @moroccan.cannon.”
She also acknowledged that her dad does have other children, adding, “I do have other half siblings from my dad but they are all many years younger than me!”
She’s right — there is a pretty significant age gap between Monroe and Moroccan and their oldest sibling who Nick welcomed after his split from Mariah. The twins are 14, but the oldest child Nick shares with Brittany Bell, his son, Golden, is 8 … so they probably don’t have too much in common.
Besides, being that Nick’s kids are all living with their moms (of which there are six, including Mariah) it’s likely that the twins don’t get to spend much quality time with their younger half-siblings.
However, they do seem to get some face time in with their dad when they can. Just before Halloween, Nick shared photos from their time at Knott’s Scary Farm together — something that’s definitely an activity for this busy dad to share with his older kids, since it was likely a bit too frightening for the younger set.
From what Monroe and Moroccan have shared online themselves, it also seems like they have a solid relationship with Nick. On Father’s Day this year, Moroccan shared a sweet tribute to his dad on Instagram, along with plenty of photos of them together over the years.
“I love you so much dad. You’ve always been there for me and helped me with whatever problem I’m dealing with at any time and any place,” Moroccan wrote. “Thank you for raising me to be the dude I am today. You’re the best. Enjoy today father!!!”
Monroe commented on the post too, writing, “Happy Father’s Day Daddy.”
