What to Know
Making AI-generated videos that seem ultra-realistic is what makes AI content fun for many. For others, it seems like a waste of resources and a way to speed up any potential harm that data centers have on the world. When Mario Lopez used AI to make a video of his niece, he already had strikes against him for using AI for something so frivolous.
But the actual video, which was reportedly taken down by Mario but still shared on social media by other users, is also kind of strange in what it shows. In the video, Mario’s niece, 19-year-old Kalia Wong takes two hot dogs to the face. It doesn’t sound all that bad, but the internet was pretty put off by the resulting video and many have questioned why Mario even created it and posted it in the first place.
No one really knows why Mario Lopez posted the video.
Uhhhh, what a creepy video for Mario Lopez to create using AI and then post…

Especially since the subject is his niece! pic.twitter.com/3hgKxYnUdz
In the video, Mario and Kalia are at a Dodgers game. As Kalia holds up two footling hot dogs, Mario says, “I can’t take you anywhere!” As she eats the hot dogs in a messy way, the toppings covering her face and dribbling down her chin, Mario exclaims, “You’re a mess! The mustard!” His voice sounds like the real Mario, but tinged with that classic AI voice you might have heard in various TikTok fruit drama AI series.
Kalia, or the AI version of Kalia in the video, rubs the hot dog’s mustard all over her chin for the non-existent camera while Mario continues to look on with surprise. It seems to be an attempt at a joke on Mario’s part. He may have plugged the prompt into an AI app and tried to make a joke at his niece’s expense. And maybe she was totally fine with it. But the Internet was not here for the idea of an AI video of a teenage girl running food all over her face. Go figure.
He later deleted the video.

The original video that Mario posted does show him at a Dodgers game with Kalia. It might even be where the I inspiration came from for the AI-edited version of the video. In the original video, Mario films himself and Kalia enjoying the game, and nothing more. But there is no AI video on Mario’s social media accounts now. So if he really is the one who made it, the video is gone.
Elsewhere on social media, Redditors shared their thoughts on the AI video in a post about how Mario seemingly deleted the original video. Most couldn’t believe why anyone would make a video like this about someone else, let alone their niece. Good question.
“My guess is he thought it was funny, but I have so many questions,” one person commented on the post. “Like was the AI trained on porn and generated her reactions, expressions, tone of voice, and way the mustard fell/smeared based on implicit biases in what it expects a male user to want to see when he’s generating a video using a female face/body? Or did he actively use it to generate other porn and it defaulted to his former settings by accident when sexualizing the video? Does he have some type of food/incest fetish?”
That’s quite a big stretch, but for some, it’s where the mind immediately went after seeing the AI video.
Other users called out Mario Lopez for being a totally creepy uncle.

In the comments under the X post, users called out Mario for the “creepy” video. Some people didn’t understand the reason behind it, while others couldn’t help but notice the situation it put his niece in, even if the footage is totally fake and AI-generated.
“I was so disturbed the first time I came across this tweet it didn’t even register,” one person commented.
“The layers to this are mind boggling,” another person commented. “Sexualizing your own niece…in a clearly terrible AI slop video…with no other context…f–king unhinged.”
When others suggested that the post was all in good fun and not to be taken in a strange or inappropriate way, someone else responded, “Ummm yes it’s weird showing your niece shove two hot dogs in her mouth with mustard all over her face.”
