Megan Fox & Machine Gun Kelly’s PDA-Filled Romance: A Timeline

While some Hollywood couples seem totally made for each other from the start, others catch us a little off guard. Take Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly (real name Colson Baker), for instance. The two are certainly an unlikely pair, yet as soon as they met, they instantly clicked. And since then, they've been swept up in a whirlwind romance that has their fans riveted — and their close friends already buzzing that they could soon be headed down the aisle together.

When rumors of their relationship first began circulating in early 2020, it also came as quite a surprise to many because at the time, 35-year-old Megan was still married to Brian Austin Green, with who she shares three young sons, Noah, Bodhi, and Journey. Or, so we thought. As it turns out, the couple, who married in 2010, had separated in late 2019 but kept their change in relationship status private.

Now, more than one year after Megan and 31-year-old MGK kicked off their unexpected romance, the two seem happier than ever. Though they've been taking things slowly for their kids — MGK is dad to a 12-year-old daughter — it's clear that they have fallen head over heels for each other. And that things have gotten pretty serious. (Case in point: MGK is wearing a necklace containing a drop of Megan's blood — so she can always be with him.)

Perhaps we misjudged this unlikely Hollywood hookup. As engagement rumors continue to heat up for Megan and MGK, here's a look back at how their steamy romance developed.

March 2020: The Two Met on Set

In March 2020, Megan and MGK met while filming Midnight in the Switch Grass together. The long days working on the movie — a creepy serial killer thriller — gave them lots of time to get to know each other. And apparently, there was some undeniable heat between the pair from the start. The film's director and producer, Randall Emmett, shared a first-look picture of them in character on March 12 that year. Were sparks already flying?

March 2020: MGK Shared the First Pic Featuring Megan

OK, so the picture didn't show Megan herself, but in early March 2020, MGK posted a shot of two director's chairs (swipe to see) – one with his name and the other with Megan's. Fans later took to the comments to share their theories that this was the moment when their relationship began, since it was the first hint of Megan on his social media. A week later, the movie set was unfortunately shut down due to the global health crisis.

At this point in time, Megan was still married to Brian Austin Green, whom she wed in 2010. There were rumors that she and Brian were quarantining apart — and maybe even no longer even together — when the Daily Mail published photos of Megan spending time with MGK in Calabasas, California. On May 18, Brian put an end to the speculation, confirming on his podcast that he and Megan had separated at the end of 2019.

May 2020: Megan Starred in MGK's Music Video

Rumors of a relationship between Megan and MGK were already circulating, but they ramped up even more when Megan appeared in MGK's music video for "Bloody Valentine." In the kooky footage, Megan portrays a dominatrix who plays with MGK. Both stars promoted the video on their social media channels, and fans picked up on the chemistry between the two right away.

By this point, a romance between MGK and Megan was looking more and more obvious. There's only so much of it that could have been acting, especially in the music video. In mid-June, MGK tweeted a lyric from his song, seemingly confirming the speculation about his relationship with Megan. "Life imitated art on that one," he said. Hmm …

June 2020: Matching Manicures

There were subtle hints of their romance on social media through the early days of June 2020. MGK shared a photo of a picnic spread, and the pair of legs visible in the shot were thought to be Megan's. Then, the musician posted a photo on his Instagram Story of matching manicures – again rumored to be with Megan – featuring artwork inspired by his song.

June 2020: Spotted on a Date

After the music video was released, the rumors about the two died down a bit. That was, until they were spotted holding hands on what looked like a date. According to People, their relationship was growing; however, they were still taking it slow for their kids. "They hang out at Megan's several times a week. She only sees [MGK] when the boys are with Brian," a source said at the time.

July 2020: Their First Joint Interview

Megan and MGK were guests on Lala Kent and Randall Emmett's podcast, Give Them Lala … With Randall, where the two talked for the first time about their connection. And let's just say, they got deep.

"I knew right away that he was what I call a twin flame," Megan said of MGK. "Instead of a soul mate, a twin flame is actually where a soul has ascended into a high enough level that it can be split into two different bodies at the same time. So we're actually two halves of the same soul, I think. And I said that to him almost immediately because I felt it right away."

July 2020: They're Officially Official on Social Media

Megan's face graced MGK's social media for the first time — no more hiding by just showing a peek of her legs or her hands. In the picture, the two posed next to each other in a mirror selfie, playfully sticking out their tongues. "Waited for eternity to find you again," MGK wrote in the caption, adding some knife and heart emojis for good measure.

August 2020: MGK Made an Appearance on Megan's Social Media

First, it was his turn, and then it was hers. In early August 2020, Megan shared a photo of herself and MGK in another mirror selfie. This time, the photo was in black and white, and the two were pictured wrapped in towels, appearing to cover their bathing suits. "Achingly beautiful boy… My heart is yours," Megan wrote, adding knife and heart emojis just like MGK did. (Perhaps these are their official couple symbols?)

September 2020: Their Love Blossomed

According to what a source told Us Weekly at the time, Megan and MGK took a very big step in their relationship: MGK reportedly met Megan's kids. Still, they continued to take things slow, considering Megan had just come out of a long marriage. "MGK and Megan aren't seriously talking about getting engaged, married, or having kids right now — they're not there yet. It's too soon for everyone, both of their kids and Brian included," the source explained. "They are definitely super into each other, though. MGK is obsessed with Megan."

October 2020: They Kept a Low Profile

The two laid low for most of October, but they still spoke about each other publicly when the opportunity arose. Megan appeared in MGK's next music video, and in late September, MGK revealed to Howard Stern that he felt like he was in love for the first time ever. Whoa!

After months of dating — and keeping the rumor mill cranking — they seriously leveled up their relationship when they walked the red carpet for the first time as a couple at the American Music Awards. They looked incredible together and so happy and comfortable too. Notice how MGK can't even take his eyes off Megan!

December 2020 to January 2021: Engagement Rumors Heat Up

Of course, as soon as a new Hollywood couple makes their public debut, the inevitable engagement rumors begin circulating. At the time, a source told ET that MGK could definitely see himself marrying Megan. "MGK and Megan make each other laugh, and that's a big thing for Megan," the insider said. "They keep each other smiling. MGK totally sees marriage in his future with Megan, and friends could 100% see them getting engaged within the next year."

February 2021: Happy Valentine's Day

The besotted couple proclaimed their love for each other for Valentine's Day, letting fans know their romance was still as hot and heavy as ever. MGK even shared a necklace that he wears with a pendant that literally contains a drop of Megan's blood — so she can be with him everywhere. "I wear your blood around my neck," he wrote in his Instagram caption.

May 2021: A Special Anniversary

It's clear that fans love these two together, and Megan and MGK seem thrilled to have found each other. In May, MGK tweeted the anniversary of the day that Megan told him that she loved him. "She said, 'I love you' one year ago today," he tweeted. And now, we'll just have to stay tuned to find out what happens next.
