Well, this is awkward. After tuning in to With Love, Meghan, which debuted on Netflix earlier this month, it’s safe to say that Meghan Markle feels right at home in the kitchen – and that makes her latest controversy all the more baffling. After she shared the green waffles she made her children for breakfast on St. Patrick’s Day, some of her critics are accusing her of lying. People are convinced there’s no way she made these from scratch.
It all started when Meghan shared part of her morning with her Instagram followers on Monday.
A very Sussex #StPatricksDay 💚

In a post she shared on her Instagram Stories that has since expired, Meghan shared a video of the green waffle batter she made so she could give Archie and Lili a festive breakfast. When the waffles were finished, she added blueberry eyes, a kiwi slice for a mouth, and whipped cream hair to transform them into leprechauns.
She and husband Prince Harry also enjoyed their own plates of green waffles, along with what looks like a green iced latte.
People wasted no time calling her out.
After noticing inconsistencies between the waffle iron that Meghan was using in the video and the waffles she served her children, her critics were quick to point them out on X.
“Meghan Markle’s relentless compulsion to lie about everything is baffling – even over something as trivial as a waffle,” one person wrote. “She posted a video of herself using a waffle maker with a divider, yet the so-called ‘homemade’ waffle she presented looked exactly like a store-bought one, missing the dividers that should have been there. Why stoop to such a pathetic, pointless lie? This constant need to twist reality and deceive – especially over something so insignificant – is deeply concerning. She seriously needs help!”
One person called her a ‘walking scam.’
“I immediately saw the difference when I saw the video. I couldn’t grasp the reason to lie about waffles. What kind of person needs to do that? Meghan Markle is a walking scam,” the person commented.
Another commenter posted a photo of frozen green waffles next to the one Meghan served her children to compare. Though they weren’t the same shape as Meghan’s, the person wanted to show it was possible she purchased the waffles instead of making them herself.
“We have all seen Meghan’s fake waffle iron waffles she posted on Instagram. Not the correct lines on them from the waffle iron,” the person wrote.
There may be a reason for the inconsistencies between the waffles and the waffle maker.
According to what a source told Page Six, Meghan used two different waffle makers – one to make the kids’ waffles and one for the adults.
This could be true. Though as adults, we know that it would just make a bigger mess to clean up to use two different waffle makers … but we also know the tantrum it could save for kids who are particular about their food.
So far, Meghan hasn’t responded to the criticism herself, but at this point, there may be no convincing her naysayers that she actually made these waffles from scratch.
