Meghan Markle Accused of Using Daughter Lilibet To Promote New Netflix Show

On Tuesday, Meghan Markle isn’t just launching her new brand, As Ever ā€“ her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, will also premiere. Now that she has an Instagram account, she’s been sharing bits and pieces of her personal life leading up to the big day, including a moment she shared with her daughter, Lilibet, over the weekend. There’s just one problem: People are convinced she’s doing it for the wrong reasons.

On Saturday, Meghan took to her Instagram Stories to share a sweet moment between her, 3-year-old Lili, and longtime friend Serena Williams. In a video, we can see the ladies engaged in a game of Candy Land.

ā€œWhen the aunties come to celebrate ā€¦ and to play! Love you @serenawilliams,” Meghan wrote.

It seems like a sweet moment shared between Meghan and her friend, but not everyone saw it that way. Daily Beast’s Tom Sykes even accused Meghan of “parading” her daughter out to promote her own career.

“The Duchess of Sussex used her daughter Lilibet this weekend in an Instagram story tagged ‘@netflix,’ as she seeks to drum up interest in her new series out Tuesday, titled With Love, Meghan,” he wrote.

He wasn’t the only one who had that opinion, either. On X (formerly Twitter), people had a lot of opinions, and most of them weren’t very favorable of Meghan or her post. Some wondered why Lilibet’s big brother, Archie, and Serena’s daughters weren’t included, and others pointed out that this went against Meghan and Harry’s previous cries for privacy.

But mostly, people simply focused on their belief that Meghan was using her daughter to get people interested in her show, with one even calling her post “staged.”

“It looks more fake than the video Netflix released. Which was fake in itself,” one person tweeted.

Another critic added, “More photos of Archie and Lilibet, strategically placed to merch products and projects. This isnā€™t about a family enjoying themselves, this is about Meghan using children with royal titles as a marketing tool to enrich herself. Everything she does is for dollar signs and itā€™s disgusting.”

If Meghan’s heard the criticism, she doesn’t seem too bothered by it. She hasn’t responded to the backlash. But then again, she typically lets it all roll right off her shoulders.

There’s less than 24 hours left until With Love, Meghan hits Netflix. Will we see Lili and Archie again before then?
