Meghan Markle Called ‘Insensitive’ After Posing for a Photo in a Limo Near Princess Diana’s Crash Site

Meghan Markle never had the opportunity to meet her mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who died in 1997. However, she and husband Prince Harry have discussed at length how they keep her memory alive, which makes the situation that just unfolded all the more baffling. Meghan shared a photo taken from inside a limo near Diana’s crash site, and now, she’s being deemed as “insensitive” for the decision.

Meghan shared some Instagram posts from Paris.

The post included clips from Meghan’s visit for Paris Fashion Week, where she attended several of the Balenciaga shows. The video shares a glimpse of her travels around the city, from peering at the Eiffel Tower from the window of a nearby building to footage of her getting her hair and makeup done for the events.

One of her posts included a video taken near the site of Princess Diana’s fatal car crash.

In one of the clips that she shared to her Instagram Stories (which has since expired), Meghan can be seen with her feet up in what looks to be the backseat of a limo at night as they drive over the Pont d’Alma bridge — located right next to the Pont d’Alma Tunnel, where the crash that took Diana’s life notoriously took place.

Royal expert Richard Fitzsimmons called the photo “insensitive beyond belief.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail about Meghan’s post, royal expert Richard Fitzsimmons called it “another example of the Sussexes doing something that makes no sense at all.”

“I don’t understand what on earth she was thinking — well, she can’t have been thinking. No adviser would ever advise doing something so strange,” he said. “She has every right to go to fashion events but to share a video which had any connections with the tragic death of the Princess of Wales defies belief.”

He added, “I’m sure she didn’t mean to cause offense, she can’t have been thinking, but it’s insensitive beyond belief. It’s a complete absence of thought.”

Prince Harry likely wouldn’t be very impressed by the photo himself.

Given how much losing his mother at a young age has obviously affected Harry’s life, Richard doesn’t believe he would have approved of Meghan’s post — and it might have even sparked a fight between them behind the scenes.

“Diana’s death is a tragedy that has scarred so much of Harry’s life and I can’t imagine he would find this very appropriate,” he said. “While he’s always supportive in public I suspect he’ll be absolutely horrified and she could hear plenty from him about it.”
