Meghan Markle Was Called Out for Her ‘Curated Farmhouse Vibes’

Even though she moved across the pond, Meghan Markle will never not have haters in the United Kingdom. Well, to be fair, she has her fair share in the United States too, and some of them often come together on X to criticize the Duchess of Sussex and call her out for what they see as inauthentic. That’s what happened in one post, which shows Markle leaning hard into her farmhouse homesteading persona.

But according to her harshest critics, it’s all a farce. I mean no one actually believed she lives so crunchy anyway, did they? Even so, people called her out on X and criticized her aesthetic that she continues to peddle, even without Netflix cameras filming away in a kitchen in a cottage in the countryside.

No one believes Meghan Markle’s farmhouse aesthetic is authentic.

Markle’s videos and photos on social  media in which she shows herself making honey, putting together flower arrangements, or picking herbs from a garden might be fine for an average everyday person. But because Markle is performing these tasks, it looks to some as if she is cosplaying someone who lives in a farmhouse and lives off their land.

Because let’s face it. Markle is, in no way, living off her land, no matter how many meals she claims to cook in her kitchen or how many plates she arranges with just the right amount of fresh garnish. And that’s what some people zeroed in on in the video on X. In this particular video, there is a compilation of scenes of Markle eating berries, using her orange marmalade, and living her hashtag simple life.

The person who shared the video on X wrote, “Meghan’s playing domestic goddess again. Except she’s not and the whole world can see it. The curated farmhouse vibes, the lemon-verbena lifestyle reels, the ‘from scratch’ everything … it’s all performance. Underneath the perfectly lit photo shoots and ‘aspirational’ captions is someone who’s never actually lived the role she’s selling. And after years of it, the public isn’t buying the act anymore. The gap between the brand and the reality is simply too wide.”

Some think her content is all performative.

Other X users and, quite frankly, Markle haters, commented on the post to share their own thoughts on how they view Markle. In some ways,. She has developed a brand on this persona, so it makes sense for her social media posts to center on the farmhouse vibe, but the truth is, not everyone is buying it.

“This is just her pretending that this is what she thinks promoting looks like!” A user commented. “It just seems performative and cheesy. Does anyone believe this nonsense?!”

“Inspired by Joanna Gaines…reruns, 10 years later,” another user wrote.

Someone else admitted, “I think she does beautiful floral arrangements. I can’t take that away from her. But she’s not a lifestyle guru & seemingly has become kryptonite. Maybe she should just live within their means & be a good mom & wife. That’s aspirational.”

She’s often called out for the videos and posts she makes.

At this point, I don’t think anyone really knows what the real and totally authentic Markle is. Maybe that’s why people can’t stop dogging on her every chance they get, especially since everything seems to be so overly edited, complete with hazy scenes and slow motion shots. It’s all about an aesthetic that Markle continues to cling to despite the hate that keeps on coming.

“So she is walking in the woods laughing at trees, she’s a full lunatic now,” someone wrote under an X post featuring yet another one of the heavily edited slow-mo videos of Markle promoting her brand.

Another joked, “We all cackle in the woods to be relatable.”
