Meghan Markle is the life of the party, but that might not be something Prince Harry loves about her. Meghan was filmed dancing at an event the couple attended over the weekend while everyone around her (including her husband) stayed seated.
Now, not only are people calling the moment “cringe” online, but Harry’s reaction to Meghan’s dancing is making it look like he was really embarrassed to be with her at that point. Uh oh.
Meghan was clearly having a blast.
The Sussexes were in Canada to attend an event benefiting David Foster’s charity foundation, and it looks like Meghan was really all about making the most of her date night out without the kids.
Footage from inside the event has surfaced on social media, and Radar Online shared it on Facebook. Meghan can be seen getting her dance on right there at the dinner table while Adam Levine is performing Maroon 5’s hit “Sunday Morning” on stage.
She wasn’t doing anything crazy — just a little swaying back and forth — and there were women in front of her who were also dancing. But Harry firmly remained in his seat, barely even bobbing his head to the music.
People are convinced Harry was embarrassed.
As Radar pointed out, critics online are accusing Meghan of exhibiting groupie behavior at what was supposed to be a formal event to raise money to help parents afford their children’s organ transplants and life-saving medical treatment.
“Dancing at the table. So thirsty! It’s so obnoxious to dance at a table when people are sitting,” one commenter wrote. “Meghan thinks she’s at the Grammys.”
Another anti-dancing commenter posted, “She’s definitely trying to draw attention to herself. This is another reason she’ll never be back in the RF. She can’t behave with any sense of decorum. She is an embarrassment and attention hog. Everything has to be all about her.”
Surprisingly, others came to Meghan’s defense.
On Facebook, people seem to feel the opposite. Some will acknowledge that there can be some valid criticisms of Meghan, but this isn’t one of them.
“Honestly I despise Meghan Markle so I’d happily find something annoying here if it was there, but there is nothing cringe about this,” one of the Facebook commenters wrote on Radar’s post of the video. “She’s just swaying to music. Big deal.”
Besides, Meghan grew up in a world where dancing to music was a normal thing to do, while Harry grew up in the British royal family, where decorum came first at all costs. Maybe it just didn’t feel natural to him to get up and dance in his tuxedo?
Either way, surely Adam appreciated having members of the audience dancing to his tunes. It would be kind of boring to perform on stage to a sleepy audience!
And it’s not like she got up on the table and danced. Could you imagine the discourse that would have inspired?
