Since he's part of the royal family, we assumed that Prince Harry would have a lot more money than he actually does … and apparently, so did Meghan Markle. According to one royal expert, Meghan was "disappointed" that Harry didn't have more money in the bank when they first started dating.
She was surprised and disappointed that Harry had 'very little money.'
According to what writer and royal expert Tom Bower said on GB News (via the Daily Mail), Harry's bank account didn't quite look like what she assumed it would.
"She had imagined he would be worth hundreds of millions, if not billions, and she is having to make up for it now," he said.
This means that she reportedly had to adjust what she thought her lifestyle might be.
"She wants to ride in the big Cadillacs, the private jets on command," Bower said. "At the moment she needs to scrounge for those sorts of things."
"Scrounge" might be a little overkill — she and Harry are certainly doing fine financially, though they aren't living like billionaires. Then again, most people aren't!
Harry has plenty of money in the bank.
There's been a lot of talk about how Harry isn't being supported by King Charles now that he's no longer a working royal, but it appears he is supporting himself perfectly fine.
Celebrity Net Worth reported that Harry and Meghan are currently worth a combined $60 million, with Harry bringing about $20 million of that into the marriage all by himself — not hundreds of millions or billions like Meghan might have thought, of course, but still nothing to turn your nose up at!
Meghan's also got plenty of money herself.
In fact, the same website reports that Meghan was worth around $5 million on her own when she and Harry got married, thanks to the acting career that she left behind when she joined the royal family.
This is not a lady who can't stand on her own financially, so it's making us wonder how true these reports really are.
It's safe to say that these two can now buy just about anything they want.
Do they have daily private jet money? No — but that's something that Harry says they try to avoid in the interest of the environment anyway, unless it's necessary for their family's safety when they travel.
Can't blame Meghan for assuming Harry would have had a lot more money than he did when they first got together, though. Like we said — he's royal!
