Meghan Markle’s Friend Drops a Hint About the State of Her Marriage to Prince Harry

Amid divorce rumors and negative comments from people who previously worked with Meghan Markle, one of Meghan’s friends is shedding light on Meghan’s personality and marriage. Lindsay Jill Roth met Meghan when they were both students at Northwestern University. Though they graduated years ago, they remain good friends, and Lindsay even penned a sweet message for Meghan in her recent book’s acknowledgments.

Meghan’s acknowledgment was a surprise.

Speaking to People, Lindsay revealed that Meghan didn’t read the acknowledgment prior to publication. Lindsay’s latest book, Romances & Practicalities: A Love Story (Maybe Yours!) in 250 Questions, came out on January 28.

“I have saved [the acknowledgment] as a little token for her to see when the book comes out,” Lindsay told People ahead of the book’s release. “I think it’s rare to find friends who love you unconditionally, and I’ve been lucky in my life to have a few who I truly consider family. It’s almost like those words aren’t enough.”

Her comments also hint at what Meghan and Prince Harry’s marriage is like.

Interestingly, after college, both Meghan and Lindsay went on to marry men from the United Kingdom. Meghan and Lindsay’s husbands also have something else in common, though.

“I often get asked, ‘Is it really special that you both married Brits?'” Lindsay told People. “What I always say is, ‘It’s special that we both married such wonderful people.'”

Now that Lindsay’s book is out, Meghan can finally read the sweet message she wrote for her.

In the book, Lindsay wrote that she and Meghan are “sisters by choice.” “Meghan Sussex, Meg, to be sisters by choice, still thinking the same thing at the same time after all these years – no matter how many miles between us – is my favorite part of our unbreakable bond,” she wrote. “There for each other always, sharing a deep loyalty and understanding – I could tell you anything, and it would be okay. I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart).”

Previously, in an Instagram post, Lindsay wrote about Meghan’s ‘kindness.’

In 2021, Lindsay posted two photos on Instagram featuring the Duchess of Sussex – one in which Meghan helped Lindsay apply lip gloss on her wedding day, and one from college.

“Meg’s M.O. has always been kindness; goodwill runs in her bones,” Lindsay wrote at the time. “I know this to be true after 22 years of very close friendship. I have seen firsthand how she treats her friends and their families, and her colleagues. “

She said her friend Meghan is ‘more than just a cover story.’

In the same post, Lindsay praised her “altruistic, magnanimous friend” for her intelligence and sense of humor. Moreover, she emphasized the ways in which Meghan hasn’t changed.

“She was this woman when we were students together at Northwestern University; she was this woman in Los Angeles when her days were spent auditioning; she was this woman living in Toronto as Rachel Zane on Suits; she was this woman before you knew she was dating Harry; she was this woman after you knew was dating Harry; she was this woman when she became Duchess of Sussex and she is still – without a doubt – this very same woman today,” she wrote.
