Interviewing for a job can be a very stressful experience, and according to one royal expert, interviewing for a job where Meghan Markle (or any member of the royal family, really) is your boss is supposedly extra nerve-wracking.
Meghan has been accused of acting dismissive towards one potential employee she once interviewed, even allowing her to sit in silence while Meghan said nothing. If this story is true, that must have been an absolute nightmare for that job applicant.
As the story goes, Meghan was reportedly rude to a job applicant while she was still a working royal.
Journalist Richard Eden shared a story he heard from another royal reporter, Sarah Vine, about Meghan in a new video shared by The Daily Mail‘s Palace Confidential Instagram account.
“A young woman had come for an interview for a job, and Meghan was there, ready to interview her,” he said. “The woman was very nervous, as you’d imagine anyone is for an interview.”
But Meghan supposedly didn’t make it any easier on her. “She came in, and Meghan apparently just looked down, carried on looking at her papers, and this lasted for minutes,” he continued.
The job interview ended when “Meghan eventually just looked up and said to this young woman, ‘You can leave.’”
It’s probably safe to say that this woman didn’t get hired — if this story is even true in the first place.
Meghan has already been investigated for accusations of having a hostile work environment.
The Duchess of Sussex has been accused of fostering a “hostile” work environment more than once, both in and out of the palace, and at one point, she and Prince Harry were even investigated by Buckingham Palace after staffers accused them of bullying.
In April 2024, Meghan’s former aide, Samantha Cohen, even claimed in an interview with the Herald Sun that she and Harry had such a high turnover with their employees that it became impossible to find people to fill those roles and actually stay.
So far, it seems like the accusations made against Meghan have been baseless, and according to her camp, that’s the case with the new allegations, too.
Meghan has denied the latest round of accusations.
“Sarah Vine’s extraordinary ability to recall, in remarkable detail, the specifics of an event said to have taken place more than a decade ago is matched only by her extraordinary decision to have kept this supposedly newsworthy account to herself until now,” a representative for Meghan and Harry said in a statement released to Australian outlet News.com.au.
If the story is true, it would have happened a really long time ago. But at this point, we will probably never know the truth for sure.
