Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are no longer considered working royals, but that hasn’t stopped them from making humanitarian work a priority. There’s just one problem: Many people aren’t convinced that they’re doing it for the right reasons, especially after seeing footage from the couple’s unannounced trip to the Middle East last week. Meghan’s even getting comparisons to other royal women known for their charity work… and not in a good way, either.

Multiple outlets including People have been reporting on Meghan and Harry’s visit to Jordan last week, including all the visits they’ve made during their busy two-day stop.
Along with visiting World Central Kitchen, the couple joined World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in focusing on both physical and mental health for people all over the world, and also visited a hospital and a refugee camp.
One video from their appearance is giving people pause.
Page Six shared a video on Instagram showing clips of the first day of Meghan and Harry’s tour in Jordan, and their followers are totally focused on how much they think it looks like Meghan just simply doesn’t want to be there.
However, she does look like she’s intently focused on who is speaking at the time, so that says something — and so does the fact that she even appeared to be getting emotional at times.
Meghan is now the subject of some truly brutal criticism.
Royal watchers aren’t convinced by Meghan’s show of humanitarianism.
“I’m sorry but if you can read people you can easily see she NEVER comes across as genuinely interested in ANYONE but herself,” one person wrote, while another commenter admitted that Meghan will never be Princess Diana or even Kate Middleton.
Another called out Meghan and Harry for their public battle with the UK over not being supplied with enough security to feel safe while visiting the UK, writing, “Needed lots of security to go to UK but waltzes right into Jordan on a surprise visit not worried about security at all. Make me make sense.”
This isn’t the first time that Meghan has been on the receiving end of criticism like this, and it definitely won’t be last. So far, she hasn’t let any backlash she’s gotten in the past stop her from doing her thing, though.
