Meghan Markle Has Never Been Less Popular, According to New Poll

Meghan Markle has been back in the limelight. In 2025, the Duchess of Sussex returned to Instagram, launched her lifestyle brand, started a podcast, starred in her own Netflix show, and began sharing more photos of her kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Perhaps Meghan was aiming for a rebrand and hoping to improve her public image — but a new poll suggests that it might not be working for her.

Since marrying Prince Harry, Meghan has faced lots of media scrutiny. Now, years after leaving the U.K. and stepping back from royal duties, she remains unpopular in the UK. According to a recent YouGov poll that surveyed adults in the UK, just 20% of people have a favorable opinion of her, per Newsweek. 65% of people indicated that they dislike Meghan. Per a YouGov press release, Meghan’s popularity “is at its lowest point since it started being tracked in 2017.”

In 2024, YouGov published the results of a poll that showed how Americans feel about members of the royal family. Of course, this was before Meghan’s Netflix show, brand launch, and podcast. However, the poll indicated that 46% of Americans had favorable opinions of Meghan. According to that particular poll, in the US, Meghan is not actually much less popular than Kate Middleton, as only 52% of Americans had favorable views of the Princess of Wales.

According to that survey, Americans have a pretty clear favorite member of the family: Princess Diana. Meanwhile, Queen Camilla and Prince Andrew were among the least popular royals in the eyes of Americans. To be fair, Prince Andrew is not popular in the UK either. Thanks to him, Meghan and Harry are not the least popular members of the royal family.

Only 5% in the UK have a favorable opinion of Prince Andrew — and 85% of people have an issue with him, per the Scottish Daily Express.

Younger people are more likely to be fans of Meghan and Harry.

In the UK, there is a clear generational divide when it comes to Harry and Meghan’s favorability ratings. Per YouGov, younger people are more divided when it comes to how they feel about the Sussexes.

Older people, on the other hand, are not big fans. “They are very widely disliked by the oldest Britons, with 81-86% having an unfavorable view of them,” YouGov stated.
