Just in case you needed more proof that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have officially assimilated into their lives in California, this might be it. After the couple was spotted at Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party over the weekend, it seems that the royal family has a lot of opinions about it … and they certainly aren’t anything positive.
Harry and Meghan were among the A-listers at Kris’ party.
The star-studded, James Bond-themed event — which was held at Jeff Bezos’ mansion in Beverly Hills, of course — had a seriously impressive guest list. Along with Meghan and Harry, the guest list included mega celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, and Martha Stewart.
Despite the fact that we’ve seen the royals with celebrities plenty of times in the past, a party like this isn’t one that we’d typically see them at. At least, not until now.
A royal insider called their decision to go to the party “tacky.”
A palace insider who works with the royal family told Page Six of Meghan and Harry’s appearance at the party, “It’s so tacky.”
The source added, “It truly shows that Harry is so far removed from the rest of the family. These people may be stars in America, but the pure ostentatiousness is at odds with what Prince William is trying to do with his life and the monarchy.”
They shouldn’t expect to be welcomed back into the royals’ good graces anytime soon.
The insider went on to say that some palace officials believe that, when Prince William is king, Harry might begin working with the royals again … but they’re not convinced that’s actually in the cards, especially in light of Meghan and Harry’s recent choices.
“William has made it clear that he has a plan for being king, and he has true class,” they said. “I think he will look at the younger royals to help, including Prince Edward’s children.”
The couple seems to have different plans in mind for their future, anyway.
It wouldn’t appear that Meghan and Harry are banking on returning to their positions as senior royals — at least, not anytime soon. Not only is Meghan making her return to acting, but she also announced her Netflix holiday special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration this week.
It’s probably for the best, especially if they continue rubbing elbows with celebrities like the Kardashians. Something tells us King Charles isn’t loving this …
