Meghan Markle Says She Never Imagined That Her Life Would Be Like This

Meghan Markle has had a lot of changes in her life lately. In March, her show With Love, Meghan premiered on Netflix. Then, in April, the Duchess of Sussex officially launched her long-awaited lifestyle brand, As Ever. Just a few days later, the first episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, came out. Though she has dealt with a lot of criticism while pursuing her latest business ventures, Meghan says she’s actually happier than ever.

She recently spoke at the Time100 Summit in New York City.

While at the event, Meghan was asked to share a “confession.” She went with a pretty lighthearted (and not necessarily overly juicy) confession: She’s super happy right now. The Duchess of Sussex explained that she never imagined her life looking the way it does now.

“A confession for you today that I can very comfortably say is that I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” Meghan said.

When explaining why, she focused on her family.

She said she’s so happy “to have a partner and a husband who is just so supportive, and to have healthy kids that are so joyful in the freeness of their life and the safety of their life that we create for them.” Meghan also made it sound like her current life differs from what she imagined. “Of all the things that have happened in my life, I never would have imagined that getting here, at this point, I feel just so happy and grateful,” she added.

Despite her recent accomplishments, being there for her kids is what really matters.

Clearly, Meghan has been busy. But she made it clear that her kids, 5-year-old Archie and 3-year-old Lilibet are her priority. She revealed that her son Archie will likely lose his first tooth soon. “Archie is losing his first tooth, and I just hope I’m back in time for it,” Meghan said. “That’s all that matters.”

She also addressed her decision to film her Netflix show somewhere other than her real home.

Meghan’s Netflix show is largely about life at home — but it wasn’t filmed in her actual home. She explained that she was thinking about her kids when she made this decision. “On this show, it’s a crew of 80 people,” she said. “People said, ‘Why didn’t you film the show in your house?’ I said, ‘My kids are coming home for their nap.'”

She added that “eighty people in the kitchen isn’t really the childhood memory I would love for them to have.”

Previously, Meghan explained why her current business pursuits make sense for her right now.

While Meghan does seem to have a lot going on, she previously spoke out about how the projects she’s currently working on allow her to spend a lot of time at home with her family. “This is a way I can connect my home life and my work,” she told the New York Times when speaking about the projects she’s been working on. At the same time, she’s acknowledged that balancing motherhood and her work life is still incredibly challenging. “I love being a mom so much. It’s my favorite thing,” she recently said on her podcast. But at times, she still finds herself thinking, “I just need a break.”
