Meghan Markle’s Vision Board Criticized for Being ‘Cringy & Desperate’

March could be the biggest month of the year for Meghan Markle and her career plans, but she’s already off to a pretty shaky start. Days after she posted a vision board that seems to tie into her new brand, As Ever, that’s set to launch next week, the Duchess of Sussex is being called out for being “cringy and desperate” by critics who aren’t impressed with the way she’s promoting her latest project.

Earlier this week, Meghan shared her mood board.

“From memory lane to the memories I’m making today …” she wrote in her caption.

As People pointed out, the different photos and scraps that were pinned to the board in the photo seem to hint at the things that have inspired her as she created her brand, from the piece of fabric that’s embroidered with the As Ever logo to labels for As Ever’s raspberry spread — an Easter egg for what might be included in the brand’s first product rollout.

The board wasn’t necessarily well received.

Though Meghan has comments turned off of her Instagram posts, that hasn’t stopped people from weighing in elsewhere, including on Reddit.

“She’s so cringey and desperate,” one person wrote.

Another added: “The fact that this is not from 2007 is SENDING ME. Imagine giving up prominence on the world stage to be an influencer that’s not even good at it. This is truly cringe beyond what I even thought was possible.”

Some think she shared the post to compete with Kate Middleton.

Earlier this month, Kate and Prince William’s official Instagram account shared drawings that their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, had made while promoting the Princess of Wales’ early childhood initiative. More than one of Meghan’s critics on Reddit seems to believe that her vision board was shared in response.

“I’d like to compare it to what the Princess of Wales Catherine posted and how honest and raw it is,” one person wrote.

Some people are really loving it.

Not everyone is anti-mood board; some fans are even calling it “beautiful.”

“I’m going to say it again: the best thing Meghan did this year was open an Instagram account,” one fan on X wrote.

Another tweet reads: “Imagine being an old lady and being mad that Meghan has a mood board with fun or inspirational quotes? Like you have to be utterly devoid of basic decency to pick on a woman who does that and then claims that she does it to herself and therefore the bullying is warranted.”
