Most parents worry about their kids when they go away to college. Are they eating enough? Have they studied for their finals? Are they telling you everything about their lives? According to People, Melania Trump has her own concerns about son Barron Trump while he is away at school. Stars, they’re just like us. Well, not really. Not even close. But Melania is definitely a mom who is keeping a close eye on her son from afar.
Per the outlet, a source close to the Trump family said that Melania “watches Barron constantly” and makes sure that he isn’t targeted or bullied because of who his father is. Barron goes to college at New York University, and in the fall of 2025, he began his sophomore year away at school, with his parents back in Washington, D.C. at the White House.

The alleged source also told People that Melania “always knows where he is and what he’s doing” when it comes to Barron being away from home at school. Part of that was making sure that Barron would live at Trump Tower instead of on campus in a dorm.
Unlike other parents who have concerns about their kids being miles away from them at college, Melania can rest a little easily knowing that Barron has his Secret Service detail with him.
Per People, the White House source said that Melania “will do everything she can to make sure Barron does well in school and is socially and mentally adjusted to his life as a college student.”
For the most part, Barron has remained out of the public eye when he can. And apparently, Melania may prefer to keep it that way if it means his privacy also equals his safety.
Critics say Melania is worried because “his dad is evil incarnate.”
Maybe Melania’s motivation comes from a place of being a mom and wanting to protect her son. That, we get. But you can trust Trump’s harshest critics to poke holes in her intentions because of, well, who Barron’s dad is.
On a Reddit post about Melania worrying about Barron’s safety amid the hate in the country, someone commented, “Passive aggressive way of worrying he’s a target because his dad is evil incarnate.”
Another commented on Melania’s concern for Barron with, “What a joke. She’s married to the worst example of a human being.”
“Well, bless his heart,” someone else commented on the thread. “If only his dad wasn’t one of the biggest instigators of hate, she wouldn’t have to worry about her ‘innocent’ little son.”
