On Tuesday, Melania Trump released her memoir, Melania, out into the world … and it seems to be full of surprising revelations, including one about the night that she and her husband, former President Donald Trump, met. Melania said Donald was on a date with another woman the first time he hit on her, and this story coming to light doesn’t seem to be doing him any favors online.

Melania and Donald first crossed paths at a party at Fashion Week.
The year was 1998 — years before the two married in 2005 — and while Melania was there with a friend, Donald was clearly on a date who his now-wife described as an “attractive blonde woman.” After introducing themselves, Donald sat down next to her and kept the conversation going.
“He asked me about my time in New York, my Slovenian home, and my world travels,” she wrote in an excerpt published by Variety. “It was a moment of connection, a brief encounter that left a lasting impression. It was nice to make a new acquaintance.”
Since he was with a date, Melania said she thought they were just exchanging 'mere pleasantries.'
But still, she couldn’t deny that they instantly hit it off.
“From the moment our conversation began, I was captivated by his charm and easygoing nature,” she wrote. “There was so much bustling activity around us, but his intent focus on our interaction made me feel like the center of his world. It was a refreshing departure from the usual superficial small talk, and I found myself drawn to his magnetic energy.”
When his date walked away for a minute, Donald made his move.
That was when he chose to ask for Melania’s number, a move she said left her “a little surprised.” She wouldn’t give him her number and asked for his instead, which he agreed to on one condition: “If you promise to call me.”
“With a hand gesture, Donald called over his bodyguard,” Melania wrote. “His big shoulders leaned in as he listened to him, before discreetly writing a note on a sleek business card. Donald took the card and handed it to me.”

People aren't exactly impressed with the former president.
In response to a TMZ post on X (formerly Twitter) about this particular passage from Melania’s book, people didn’t hold back.
“This should have been a huge red flag for her to get away from him and not be with him,” said one tweet.
Others expressed a lack of surprise. One person wrote, “Sounds about right.”
Her book is filled with other tidbits about her relationship with Donald.
She even admitted to disagreeing with Donald and her stepchildren at times.
“While I may not agree with every opinion or choice expressed by Donald’s grown children, nor do I align with all of Donald’s decisions, I acknowledge that differing viewpoints are a natural aspect of human relationships,” she wrote.
